Whenever you’re looking for the perfect holiday or hostess present, fresh-baked quick breads are always a good choice: The baked products are comfortable, generally adored, and – like handmade doughnuts – are members of a small family of baked goods that are equally at home as a dessert and a morning treat.Baking a fast bread should, by definition, be a simple process.Even easier is wrapping it in a way that ensures it stays fresh and looks nice (rather than like a sad bake-sale leftover).

All you need is 20 seconds and some waxed paper or parchment paper to do this project.Here’s how to make your quick breads seem presentable for all of your Christmas gift-giving requirements.More: Give this luscious, spiced date loaf as a gift to your vegan friends.

Press the center of the paper down, then fold the ″wings″ of each side into points, as if you were creating a paper plane, and tuck them under the center of the paper.Simply cut the excess width of the quick bread so that it is flush with the sides if you are going to be a bit short (see below).Attach some string or ribbon to the ends of the paper that are above the bread before folding the paper down as instructed above and securing it with a knot.

We hoped you used our best-ever recipe (which, by the way, is unbeatable), but we’re confident it’ll be wonderful regardless of what you used. It’s time to think about one very critical question now that your loaf has been created: how will you keep it?

How to Store Banana Bread

The best manner to keep banana bread is determined by how soon you intend to consume it.

If you plan to eat it in the next few days…

It should be kept at room temperature. Banana bread that is stored at room temperature will keep for approximately four days.

  1. Allow the bread to cool fully. When we say ″totally,″ we mean it absolutely. Because you’re about to securely wrap the bread in a container, it’s not a good idea to trap warmth (which might cause moisture to form) within the container as well as the bread. Warm bread results in mushy bread.
  2. Place a paper towel in the bottom of an airtight storage container OR in an airtight bag to keep the container from becoming stale. Then, on top of the bread, add the cooled loaf. It will absorb any excess moisture that may seep out over the following several days, thanks to the paper towel.
  3. Another paper towel should be used to protect the bread. The loaf should now be sandwiched between two paper towels to prevent it from drying out.
  4. Seal. If you’re storing your bread in a container, make sure the lid is securely fastened. If you’re storing your bread in an airtight bag, be certain that the lid is firmly secure.
  5. After four days, either throw away the bread or freeze what’s left of it.

If you plan to keep it longer…

Put it in the freezer. When kept correctly, frozen banana bread will last for approximately three months after being frozen.

  1. Allow the bread to cool fully. Whatever method you want to use to keep your banana bread, this is a vital step to do.
  2. Wrap the bread securely in plastic wrap to prevent it from drying out. Beeswax can also be used as a sealant. Wrap it around a couple of times to make sure it’s thoroughly enclosed.
  3. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil once more or store it in an airtight bag to keep it fresh. Add a few layers of aluminum foil to make a double-layer sandwich. If you don’t have foil on hand, you can use an airtight freezer bag to wrap the food.
  4. Store. Following your confirmation that the bread is entirely coated by various layers of protection, you may keep it in the freezer for two to four months.

Tip: Instead of freezing a complete loaf of bread, you may freeze individual pieces for a snack or breakfast that is ready to consume right away. Due to the fact that the interior of the slices will be visible if you choose to go this way, it is extremely necessary to double or triple wrap the slices.

How to Thaw Banana Bread

After around 30 seconds in the microwave, slices of bread will have thawed.

Plastic wrap will become your best buddy.Tupperware, on the other hand, is not.This is going to seem a little counter-intuitive at first, but stick with me and I’ll clarify what I’m talking about.

SAVE YOUR PRETTY PLASTIC CONTAINERS FOR LATER!The reason behind this is as follows: Plastic containers are virtually airtight in their construction.Which is ideal in your home’s climate-controlled and humidity-free environment.

This is especially true when you open the container to get a cookie on a daily basis and the moisture has a chance to escape.However, if you place that airtight container in the mail and don’t open it for many days, the moisture will remain in the container.Mold may grow outside if the temperature is too high.

I once received a very wonderful jar filled with delicious mushy goo that I believe had originally been bars of some sort.The photographs were just stunning!The recipe appeared to be great!What arrived in the mail was not what was expected.Plastic wrap secured with a lovely sticker is less expensive, more attractive, and far more forgiving.In addition, it is less expensive to ship.

  1. ***Granola and nuts are two items that transport nicely in airtight containers.*** Treat bags are adorable and make great gifts.
  2. And everytime I give cookies or whatever else that has been properly wrapped into one of these small parchment envelopes, I feel like a true professional.
  3. Extra points are awarded for more stickers.
  4. A good ol’ brown bag is one of my favorite things.
  5. There are so many things that you may put in it!
  6. You may brown bag anything, including cookies, brownies, bars, granola, and loose nuts.
  1. If you are transporting items that need to preserve moisture, you should definitely wrap them in plastic before placing them in brown bags.
  2. This is the method through which I distribute a large number of items locally.
  3. I believe that it is completely inexpensive and fashionable (but remember I live in jeans and tank tops, so you may not want to take my word on the stylish thing).
  4. Prepare your belongings with care!
  5. Newspapers, plastic bags, construction paper — whatever you use to fill your box, make sure it is completely full so that nothing moves about and gets smooshed.
  6. Once, I received a package with some INCREDIBLE macarons, but they were all damaged and broken.
  1. I ate them nonetheless (oh, yeah, I did), but I felt so sorry for the creator since I knew she had put a lot of time, heart, and soul into making these.
  2. You can never be completely certain that nothing will break, but you can make every effort to avoid it!

  4. And while we’re on the subject of boxes, I’d like to share a little secret with you.
  5. You may order boxes from the United States Postal Service website for FREE, and they will be delivered straight to your home.

It’s nothing short of incredible.I ALWAYS choose Priority Mail 2-Day service from the United States Postal Service.No matter how many loaves of banana bread you stuff into that package, the price remains the same.

Furthermore, you are aware that your delicacies will not be traveling for a week.A little amount of flare (to be exact, 37 pieces) can go a long way in a little space.Sparkles, confetti, raffia, and paper grass are some of my favorite embellishments since they make your present feel a bit more special.After all, if you’re shipping muffins, you don’t need to include any wrapping paper, do you?Personal labels are in good spirits.

If you have them, put them to good use.I have one additional time-saving trick for you that you may use while you’re packing to ship: In order to ship using the United States Postal Service, not only can you utilize the flat cost 2-day FREE boxes, but you can also print your labels straight from your computer and have the mailman pick up your item right from your porch!I enjoy experimenting with different postal alternatives because some are more cost-effective than others.For example, the cost of a typical medium box to any location in the United States is $11.30.

  • Even though a box is almost EXACTLY the same size as a book, it delivers (no matter how heavy!) for roughly $5.60.

  • What a simple task this would be during the holidays!
  • I’m just putting it out there.
  • I usually arrange pickup the night before, bake either that night or the next morning, allow everything to cool fully, and then have it picked up in the afternoon the next day if possible.
  • It’s really simple.

Things That Ship Well…

Things That Don’t Hold Up So Well in the Mail…

  • Foods such as popcorn (which softens rather than remaining crisp
  • there is a purpose for all of the wacky preservatives in packaged popcorn!) The following items are prohibited: iced or frosting-filled cookies (anything with a shortening or peanut butter base MIGHT be alright, but the icing tends to solidify, turning your cookie into a weapon)
  • truffles (this is subject to change. It could work if you have a cake foundation that is mainly cake. However, you want to prevent any climatic fluctuations, particularly in the case of heat. Exercise caution when using bark or chocolate (imagine a chocolate bar that has been warmed and then allowed to cool — the color is wrong and it seems chalky). Occasionally, the texture is altered as well)

My Bread-Storing Process

The following, in my view, is the finest step-by-step procedure for keeping banana bread for an extended period of time:

  1. Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool for approximately ten minutes. Afterwards, run a butter knife around the rim of the pan to clean it.
  2. Turn the pan upside down and let the bread to slowly slip off the pan onto a big platter. Allow the bread to cool fully. If you don’t let the bottom of the bread go too soft, it will stay together much better and will be easier to slice and consume
  3. Bread should be sliced into substantial pieces.
  4. Take a bite of a slice
  5. Wrap a couple slices of bread in strips of plastic wrap that are roughly twice the size of the slices you want to wrap. Make sure you do this extremely carefully and securely

  7. Place the plastic-wrapped bread in the bottom of a big, thick freezer bag and seal the bag tightly shut. As you carefully shut the seal on the bag, gently squeeze any excess air out of the bag.

  9. Ensure that your bag is properly shut before proceeding.
  10. Put it in the refrigerator or freezer to keep it fresh. Because banana bread doesn’t survive very long in my house owing to constant consumption, I store it in the cupboard or on a counter to be eaten later. Please make certain that everything is properly wrapped so that it may remain fresh

I double wrap slices of bread since there is more of the bread’s surface exposed than there would be with an entire loaf, which might cause the bread to dry out more quickly. Remove as much air from the bag as you can without squishing the bread in the process. Remove slices as required from the bag and place them back in the freezer for a ready-made breakfast
  • Making a Half-Loaf in the Freezer: Using a sharp knife, cut the loaf in half when it has cooled. Wrap it with aluminum foil. Fill a zip-top bag with as much air as possible and set it in the freezer with the foil-wrapped loaf of bread.

How to “Quick” Thaw a Half or Full Loaf

Despite the fact that patience is a virtue, banana bread is a persistent temptress.If you can’t stand the thought of waiting for the frozen banana bread to thaw on the counter, or if you crave the delicious scent of bananas and sugar floating through your home, defrost banana bread in the oven instead of on the counter.Using tongs, carefully remove the half or whole loaf from the zip-top bag, but do not remove the foil.

Placing it immediately on the middle rack of your oven is the best option.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and set a timer for 40 minutes for a half loaf or 90 minutes for a whole loaf.The bread will defrost as the oven heats up and reaches temperature.

Remove the bread from the oven and wrap it tightly in aluminum foil for 10 minutes to cool.This permits the bread to continue to defrost as a result of residual heat.It should be cold enough to handle before unwrapping and slicing into slices before spreading with butter.
