Create a hyperlink destination

Convert URLs to hyperlinks

You may locate and convert URLs (such as ″www.adobe.com″) in your document to hyperlinks by searching for and converting them.

  1. From the Hyperlinks panel’s drop-down menu, select Convert URLs To Hyperlinks.
  2. Indicate whether you want to translate URLs across the page, just the current article, or just the current selection under Scope.
  3. Select a character style from the Character Style drop-down menu to apply to the hyperlink.
  4. Complete any of the actions listed below, and then click Done. To find the next URL, press the Find button.
  5. To convert the current URL into a hyperlink, select Convert from the drop-down menu.
  6. To convert all URLs to hyperlinks, select Convert All from the drop-down menu.

The Hyperlinks panel may be used to modify, remove, reset, or locate hyperlinks, among other things. The only way to control hyperlinks in InCopy is if the narrative is currently checked out for editing.

  1. Right-click the hyperlinked text or object and select Hyperlinks > Edit Hyperlink from the context menu. Alternative: In the Hyperlinks panel, double-click the item you wish to change.
  2. To edit an existing hyperlink, open the Edit Hyperlinks dialog box and make the required adjustments before clicking OK.

When you want to make changes to a hyperlink to a URL, select the hyperlink, make your changes in the URL text box, and then click the Tab or Enter key on your keyboard. When you delete a hyperlink, the original text or graphic is still visible.

To delete an item or items from the Hyperlinks panel, first choose them in the panel’s Select Items field and then click on the Delete button at the bottom of that panel.

Rename a hyperlink source

When you rename a hyperlink source, the way it appears in the Hyperlinks panel will change as well.

  1. Make a selection in the Hyperlinks panel of the hyperlink.
  2. Select Rename Hyperlink from the Hyperlinks panel menu and type in a new name for the hyperlink.

Edit or delete hyperlink destinations

  1. The destination should be opened in the document where it occurs.
  2. Select Hyperlink Destination Options from the Hyperlinks panel’s drop-down list.
  3. Select the name of the destination that you wish to modify from the Destination drop-down menu.
  4. Edit the destination by selecting it from the drop-down menu and making the required modifications.
  5. To delete the destination, select Delete from the drop-down menu.

When you have completed updating or removing destinations, click the OK button to close the window.

Reset or update hyperlinks

  1. Choose the text range, the text frame, or the graphic frame that will serve as the new hyperlink source for the new hyperlink. If you wish to incorporate more text in the source, for example, you can do so.
  2. In the Hyperlinks window, click on the hyperlink you want to use.
  3. Choose one of the following options: Select Reset Hyperlink from the Hyperlinks panel’s drop-down menu.
  4. To make changes to hyperlinks to external documents, go to the Hyperlinks panel menu and choose Update Hyperlink.

  • If you want to chose pages that are not contiguous, divide them with commas, such as 3, 5, and 7.
  • If you need to choose a range of pages as well as individual pages, you can utilize both approaches at the same time.
  • In the Package for GoLive dialog box, you have the option of selecting a single page, a range of pages, or a combination of the two.
  • To package a single story or a few items on a page, select them in the InDesign project and choose File > Package For GoLive from the File menu.
  • In this case, InDesign will automatically enable the Selected option in the Package for GoLive dialog box when the package for golive is selected.
  • If, on the other hand, you change your mind and decide to package the entire document or page, you may still pick from a variety of alternatives before hitting the Package button.
