    5. The money you’ll spend for the package will, undoubtedly, increase slightly as well, so if money is a concern for you, you’ll need to seek precise quotations from your dealer if money is an issue for you.
    • Now, we’ll dig even further into both models to provide you a better understanding of the true differences between the two packages, as well as detailed information on the 4Runner, so you can make an informed purchase decision that meets your specific requirements.

    The SR5

    1. Despite the fact that the Toyota 4Runner SR5 is the entry-level model, it nevertheless offers a number of advantages and characteristics that other cars do not.
    2. SR5 owners will receive the ″Safety Sense″ feature that is standard on all 4Runners and features a pre-collision system with pedestrian recognition as well as a rearview camera.
    3. It goes without saying that as cities get congested and individuals become less conscious of their surroundings, pedestrians are becoming a greater menace to automobiles.
    4. This is an excellent method of maintaining control of your vehicle.
    5. In addition to a pedestrian recognition system, the 4Runner is equipped with a lane departure warning system.
    • This technology can be a little finicky at times, but it really aids drivers, particularly inexperienced ones or those who are uncomfortable behind the wheel, in getting everything just right.
    • Additionally, automatic high beams and adaptive cruise control are included in the SR5’s list of standard safety equipment.
    • Some people consider these products to be mere conveniences, yet they most definitely fall under the category of safety measures.
    • If your vehicle is equipped with automatic high lights, you will never have to worry about blinding other drivers.
    • Many individuals believe that using high lights would never cause them any problems, but if you are blinding another motorist, you might find yourself in a very dangerous scenario.
    • Adaptive cruise control undoubtedly assists you in driving and makes lengthy road journeys much more bearable; however, it should also make things safer because you won’t have to worry about your speed as much and will be able to react to traffic flow better than you would be able to on your own.
    • On top of that, your SR5 is equipped with some outstanding external elements that enhance the overall appearance of your car.
    • These features include skid plates, foglights, and a power outlet in the cargo compartment, which is a feature that is sometimes overlooked, but makes life a lot simpler if you are out camping or doing anything similar.
    • People who frequently use the SR5 for outdoor excursions such as adventures will like this feature, as will those who enjoy the ability to drop the power rear window, which gives the impression of being in the open air.

Both of these capabilities provide you with a somewhat more sensation of independence than you may get from other vehicles in this class, which is nice.Of course, the 4Runner has been improved to the point that even the SR5 now offers Apple Car Play and Android Auto functionality. These technologies are quite standard on most new vehicles, so the fact that the SR5 has them isn’t strictly a plus.

However, it does bring to a close a long-running gripe that consumers had with Toyota when their vehicles didn’t arrive with this expected package.Regardless of whether you have an Apple phone or an Android phone, these technologies make it much easier to use your phone while driving so that you don’t end up driving while distracted by your phone while driving. It has been demonstrated that the significance of this surpasses a wide range of other considerations, therefore it is not something to be taken lightly.

Stepping Up To the TRD Off Road

    1. When making the decision to upgrade to the TRD Off Road package, you should consider your own requirements as a customer.
    2. Are you someone who is going to be going on adventures on a regular basis, and who will be hitting the trails when you go camping?
    3. Because it is so finely calibrated to provide you with exactly what you want in the outdoors, if your answer is no, you are likely not to benefit from upgrading to this package.
    4. The TRD Off Road package is not recommended for those who intend to use their 4Runner as a basic daily driver.
    5. If you intend to use your 4Runner as a basic daily driver, you might consider upgrading to a different package.
    • This is due to the fact that it does not actually bring a substantial level of luxury or comfort to your car; rather, it is solely concerned with making it more capable when it comes to off-roading.
    • If you need a reminder, the word ″reminder″ is right there in the package name.
    • The TRD Off Road package, on the other hand, has a locking rear differential, which many outdoor and trail enthusiasts will tell you is a major advantage when attempting to conquer a challenge that you may not have previously believed was achievable.
    • The several off-road settings available through the Multi-Terrain system are also utilized on a regular basis.
    • Crawl control makes it easier to make your way up some steep pathways that would otherwise be difficult to navigate without the capability.
    • The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, often known as the KDSS, is a significant improvement over the previous generation TRD Off Road.
    • The KDSS is an optional upgrade; however, it is only available as part of the TRD Off Road Package and is not included in the SR5 package.
    • Having a more dynamic suspension system will allow your vehicle to adapt to its surroundings more easily than it would otherwise be able to do on its own.
    • Driving this type of vehicle requires a vehicle that has been specifically designed for off-roading.

In terms of on-road performance, the TRD Off Road package is comparable to the SR5 in terms of features and equipment. However, in practical application, if you compare these two vehicles, you will not notice much of a difference because the SR5 has greater performance that has been adjusted to ″normal″ driving conditions of the day-to-day life. When it comes to the ″Premium″ version of these packages, it alludes to the increased level of luxury and comfort that you will experience while inside the car.

If you are a serious off-roading fan, there is no reason for you to attempt and spend more money on the ″SR5 Premium″ version because you will not be obtaining nearly as much off-roading capability as you would receive with the basic TRD Off Road Package. You could want to choose the TRD Off Road Premium version, which will combine both off-road capability and the luxury of a premium interior car for individuals who have an unlimited income.

    Conclusion

    1. When it comes to choosing between the SR5 and the TRD Off Road, your final decision will be based on your intended use for your vehicle.
    2. If you just drive in the city and suburbs and only need to go on one ″adventure″ trip per year, you will most likely be content with the SR5 and what it is capable of doing.
    3. The TRD Off Road Package is an excellent option if you routinely go camping and hike trails on a weekly basis.
    4. If you do, you should investigate how it compares to other models and what it can accomplish for you.

2022 Toyota 4Runner: Choosing the Right Trim

    1. The Toyota 4Runner, which returns for the 2022 model year with a new TRD Sport trim level, retains its top rating among midsize SUVs.
    2. The TRD Sport package’s features include 20-inch wheels, a hood scoop, a front spoiler, distinctive external trim pieces, and an adaptive suspension, all of which are designed to improve on-road performance.
    3. Aside from LED high beams across the whole trim-level lineup, other new features for 2022 include adaptive cruise control.
    4. The TRD Pro grade receives the standard Multi-Terrain Monitor, which is comprised of a network of cameras that provide a 360-degree view of the trail.
    5. The Panoramic View Monitor is also included with the Platinum trim, which is the top of the range.
    • Essentially, it delivers the same views as the Multi-Terrain Monitor, but it is specifically designed for parking lots that are busy.
    • We propose the Toyota 4Runner if you want a vehicle with robust off-road aesthetics and performance (4-wheel-drive only).
    • The Highlander from Toyota is the midsize SUV to choose if you desire finesse in your vehicle.
    • We prefer the Toyota 4Runner because of its old-school body-on-frame toughness, large load space, accessible driving aids, simple-to-use controls, and extreme off-road capability in its most extreme variants.
    • In contrast, its truck-based architecture and outdated drivetrain, which includes a V6 engine and a 5-speed automated transmission, combine to provide fuel efficiency that is below average for the class.
    • The ride quality is also lumpy and stiff on versions that do not have adaptive suspension, to say the least, on these vehicles.
    • To differentiate its 4Runner from the competition, Toyota offers eight different trim levels, which are as follows: SR5, Trail Special Edition, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro.
    • However, as you proceed through the trim levels, you will see that each grade does not always build on the one before it.
    • The Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, SR5 Premium, and TRD Off-Road all provide amenities that are not included in the SR5’s base package.

The TRD Off-Road Premium is a package that includes additional features above the TRD Off-Road.The Limited grade is a progression from the SR5 Premium grade. The TRD Pro adds its content to the TRD Off-Road Premium, which in turn increases the value of the package.

    Power & Fuel Economy

    1. The Toyota 4Runner’s power comes from a 4.0-liter V6 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission, making it far from the most fuel-efficient car in its segment.
    2. According to government estimates, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) vehicles achieve 17 miles per gallon in the city, 21 miles per gallon on the highway, and 18 miles per gallon in mixed driving.
    3. When compared to the Highlander, which gets 21 mpg/29 mpg/24 mpg, this is impressive.
    4. The fact that the 4Runner is equipped with 4WD has no impact on its anticipated mileage estimates.
    5. It reduces the highway fuel economy by one mpg.
    • 4WD does have a positive impact on the bottom line.
    • The upcharge is $1,875, and it applies to the SR5, Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, and SR5 Premium.
    • The Limited is priced at $2,035 USD.
    • TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, and TRD Pro all come standard with four-wheel drive.

    2022 Toyota 4Runner SR5 (starting at $37,305)

    1. If we had to choose between a 4Runner RWD and another vehicle, we would choose the SR5 since it strikes a good balance between standard features and pricing.
    2. Aluminum alloy wheels with 17-inch center caps, LED exterior lighting (including turn signals and fog lights), skid plates, heated power outside mirrors, and a windshield-wiper deicer are among the features.
    3. In addition, keyless entry with push-button start, air conditioning, cloth upholstery, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and cruise control are all standard features.
    4. Standard equipment includes a motorized rear liftgate and a leather-wrapped tilt-telescopic steering wheel.
    5. This system has an 8-inch touchscreen, an 8-speaker audio system, five USB ports, Bluetooth, a 120-volt power connector, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
    • It also includes a 120-volt power port.
    • Forward-collision warning with automated emergency braking, lane-departure alert, and front-rear parking assist are some of the driver assistance features.
    • Additionally, adaptive cruise control and high-beam assist are included as standard features.
    • For an additional $1,585, you may upgrade to a premium audio system that includes navigation.
    • Seating in the third row will set you back $805.
    • The addition of fixed running boards increases the bottom line by $345.
    • Adding the $1,215 destination charge to the $38,520 base price of the SR5 results in a final price of $38,520.
    • Financing for 60 months at 3 percent interest works out to a monthly payment of $692 if there is no money down.

    • Tilt-telescopic steering wheel — This feature allows the driver to adjust the height and distance between the steering wheel and the dashboard.

2022 Toyota 4Runner Trail Special Edition (starting at $39,275)

    1. There is virtually little difference between the Trail Special Edition and the SR5, and what there is is primarily comprised of cosmetic upgrades to the outside.
    2. It adds a Yakima roof luggage basket, 17-inch alloy wheels, black seats with tan stitching, a 40-quart cooler, and cargo floor storage under the rear cargo floor to the SR5’s standard features.
    3. It is possible to purchase the premium audio with navigation bundle.
    4. Adding the $1,215 destination fee to the Trail Special Edition base price results in a final price of $40,490 for the vehicle.
    5. Without putting any money down for 60 months at a rate of 3 percent interest, the monthly payment comes to $728.
    • Models on sale in 2022 Toyota 4Runner Trail Special Edition include the following:

    2. Exterior parts that have been color-keyed, heated power outboard mirrors with integrated turn signals, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and roof rails that have been painted silver are among the optional features.
    3. In addition to a 4-way power-adjustable passenger seat and heated front seats, a second-row seat that reclines 40/20/40 is offered.

    5. A power moonroof is available for an additional $630.

    • This is a 4G LTE hotspot that allows passengers to view and share content online using their cellphones.

    2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Off-Road (starting at $41,135)

    1. If we were looking to purchase a 4Runner for real off-roading, this would be the model we would choose.
    2. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System is another option that we would consider.
    3. The TRD Off-Road builds on the SR5 platform as well.
    4. As a result, the integrated turn signals on the outside mirrors, the auto-dimming rearview mirror, and the heated front seats have all been eliminated from the vehicle.
    5. Crawl Control is included, as is a locking rear differential and 17-inch alloy wheels.

    • This function, which operates at speeds ranging from 1 mile per hour to 5 miles per hour, allows the driver to concentrate on steering while the car manages the speed
    • it is available on some vehicles.
    • While in use, this device locks the wheels on one axle together so that they rotate at the same pace as one another, hence increasing traction
    • Locking rear differential

    FAQ

What is the best 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim?

It all depends on what you’re searching for in a sport utility vehicle. If you plan on going on off-road excursions on a frequent basis, the Toyota TRD Off-Road model is a good off-roader at a fair price point. Aside from that, the standard SR5 model represents an excellent bargain.

Which 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim level offers the most safety?

Junior Member Premium package? Hey guys this is my first post. I Just bought a 2015 SR5 yestetday. I declined the premium package but the dealer gave me until tomorrow morning to decide. It costs, with military discount, $1849. If anyone bought it, is this what you guys paid? Is it worth it? Or waste of money? Thank s in advanced.

Member The premium package includes a few upgrades such as Softex seating, navigation, turn signals in mirrors and the sun/moonroof. I don’t see how they can sale you the premium package without you getting a different vehicle. Most of the non-premiums that I’ve seen had the upgraded stereo with navigation. My guess is that’s an $800-1000 option at most. You may need to explain what they mean by ″premium package″ to get more accurate responses. 2014 MGM TEP – Dobinsons C59-300, Bilstien 5100 (front set to stock height), Cornfed 1/2 spacers in rear, Spidertrax, Airlift 1000

Senior Member SR5 vs SR5Premium has a $2500 difference, and it is NOT a ″port install″ option. The car has to come over here either ″Premium″ or not from Japan. As @meltdown said, the ″SR5Premium″ has quite a few VERY NICE features (that are not easily upgradeable). – sunroof – softtex seats – entune with nav and apps – garage opener And IMO, totally worth it! I personally, wouldn’t want it other ways. Member Seats with premium package are also heated. One dealer I saw had converted the seats of a sr5 and used a similar button but did not place it in the blanks where they belong. There were also just on on off rather than a dial. Don’t be fooled. If you’re gonna get a ″premium″ make sure it is the actual SR5P not a SR5 with some upgrades. I love the features of my premium. I’m not sure if the SR5 mirrors come standard with heat I think that’s a premium option along with the signals. I also noticed a front windshield wiper defroster (this may or may not be standard).

If it’s Toyota, it’s good anywhere, if it’s not Toyota run away.As to whether to buy any wty, that’s your call. Also, if it’s Toyota, you can buy it anywhere (some places discount it) while you’re still within your oem wty. The value of the Toy EW is open to much debate, some do it some don’t.It’s simply an optional insurance pkg, no more no less. 2010 Blizzard Pearl SR5/P – traded 2018 Superwhite SR5/P. IS350 retrofit. You’d expect them to be high definition. Do you want to place a bet on whether or not Toyota will introduce high-definition cameras as optional extras in the future? I believe the aftermarket will be quick to capitalize on the situation. Do you believe the cameras are easily replaceable?
