I’m thinking of pulling out parcels that have sat for 3+days and leaving notice to pick up at office.Hopefully standing in line will get the customers to check their mail more often, especially when expecting a package.Any one else do this?Just wondering if there is a standard for time on these things.

However depending on the customer, I often simply slipped them the first day or second day. It’s their responsibility to pick up their mail. You might also consider simply using the lockers for those furthest away and hitting those homes closest with the overflow.

I recall the distance being.5 miles, but it’s been so long that I’ve done a route like that, that my memory may be off or it may have changed. If they live more than.5 miles from their box, you leave a notice for the package for them to pick up.

If I don’t need the parcel locker for another customer, I will let the parcel sit there until the customer picks it up. However if the customer doesn’t pick up the the parcel and I need the locker for another customer’s parcel, I will pull the offending customer’s parcel out, leave a notice in their box to pick up the parcel down at the post office and put the new parcel in. I won’t let one lazy customer hog the parcel locker at the expense of other customers or me having to drive around and deliver to the door. If you order something, go pick it up.

But that isn’t the situation described here.I know my route and I know the few customers who sometimes let parcels sit in a locker for a week and do it continuously. Those people have to learn the parcel lockers aren’t just for them and that they can’t let parcels sit there for a week or 10 days, if I need that locker for other customers. After coming down to the P.O. a few times, most learn to pick up their parcels more often.
