Additional setup may be required if you are running DHCP client software that overwrites the values in the /etc/resolv.conf file. In this case, you will need to update the DHCP client’s configuration file. Consider the following scenario: installing DHCP client software on a Debian server.

Chrome OS

The DNS settings for the selected network connection are provided in the Network section of the Settings menu for that connection. Changing the DNS server settings on Chrome OS 71, for example.

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu.
  2. Under Network, locate the connection for which you wish to setup Google Public DNS and click on it to open it. As an illustration: To make changes to the settings for an Ethernet connection, go to the Ethernet section and choose the appropriate option.
  3. Select the proper network name by selecting the Wi-Fi section from the drop-down menu
  4. this will allow you to adjust the settings for your wireless connection.
  5. It is not feasible to change the DNS settings for a mobile data connection that has been created via Instant Tethering. Routers

Every router has a unique user interface for establishing DNS server settings; we only present a generic technique for configuring DNS server settings. For further information, please refer to the documentation that came with your router. To make changes to your router’s settings, follow these steps:

  1. To access the router’s management dashboard, navigate to the IP address of your router in your browser and type it in. Most routers are built with a default IP address, such as 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.1, or 192.168.1.100, as the default configuration. If none of these options work or the default gateway address has been changed, look for the default gateway address in the network settings panel of your system.
  2. When asked, enter the password to make changes to the network configuration.

The following steps will walk you through the process of changing DNS settings on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Wi-Fi and then tap the I symbol next to the Wi-Fi network for which you wish to modify the DNS servers (if applicable). Scroll down to the DNS section and touch Configure DNS
