Transportation Guide: Get to Universal Studios Hollywood from Disneyland

Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood have had a terrible name in recent years.Yes, the theme parks in California are far smaller than those in Florida. However, I am a big believer that being smaller than does not necessarily imply being worse.

    • If you’re traveling to California for Disneyland, you might want to consider spending an extra day at Universal Studios.
    • How do you go from one theme park to another, then?
    • Are they in close proximity to one another?
    • The truth is that Disneyland and Universal Studios are actually just around an hour and a half apart by car.
    • There are several routes that may be taken to go from Point A to Point B, some of which are more convenient than others.
    • To get you from Disneyland to Universal Studios Hollywood, let’s take a look at all of the numerous kinds of transportation available.

After that, I’ll provide my thoughts on which strategy I believe to be the most effective. Before we get started, let’s go back to the entire Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood getting a bad rap situation. If you’re accustomed to the size of the parks in Orlando, you might be startled by how much smaller the parks in California are in comparison.Once you get beyond the sheer magnitude of any theme park, you will almost certainly have a great day.Particularly if you’re a die-hard Disney or Universal Super Fan.

Call me weird, but I really prefer visiting the California parks over the Florida parks while I’m in the state.A large number of attractions are crowded into the ″little″ park’s confines, and the park is densely filled with old-school Disney nostalgia. There is a strong sense of Walt’s presence in every area of the park, I swear it.Universal Studios Hollywood, located in Los Angeles, is placed in an exceptionally beautiful natural environment. The park is set in the rolling hills of Hollywood, and the movie studios provide as a stunning background to the theme park’s various attractions.

    1. It takes you to several authentic Hollywood studios that are used for filming television shows and movies on the tram trip.
    2. It’s possible that you’ll see a celebrity or two.
    3. This park might make for an excellent, low-key complement to your journey to Southern California.
    4. Because both parks are close to Los Angeles, you may extend your visit by a few days to spend time stalking celebrities, shopping on Rodeo Drive, and wandering the Hollywood Walk of Fame, among other activities.

    Free Gift for You!

As a thank you for stopping here, I created something pretty fantastic that I think you’ll like!Since I find it infuriating that theme park holidays can be so prohibitively costly, I put up a guide that should help alleviate some of the financial burden.A fast checklist that includes 15 Ways to Save Money on Your Disney Vacation is included.

    • Both Disney World and Disneyland may benefit from these suggestions!

3 FAQ’s to Get Us Started

Does Disneyland have a shuttle to transfer you to Universal Studios?

Disney and Universal are in direct rivalry with one another, and as a result, they don’t get along very well. A shuttle service connecting the two theme parks is not provided by any park. There are alternative modes of transportation available to get you to either location.

Is Disneyland near Universal Studios Hollywood?

The distance between Disneyland and Universal Studios is approximately 35 miles. You should plan on spending at least 1 hour driving or taking a cab to and from Disneyland.Given the traffic in Los Angeles and the difficulty of finding your way to the theme park, the travel might take up to 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

    • The tour buses are subject to the same time constraints.
    • In contrast, Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida, which is just a 20-minute drive from Disney World, is located in the same city.

How many days should I spend at Universal Studios Hollywood? Is one day enough?

I don’t like to speed through vacations or spend too much time in theme parks, therefore I typically avoid doing so.In this particular instance, I believe you can complete virtually all of your tasks at Universal in a single day.If you truly want to see everything in the park, you can go for two days and do everything in that time.

    • Despite the size, it’s a fantastic theme park and I recommend going if you’re in the mood for Butterbeer and celebrity sightings.

All Methods & Cost of Transportation from Disneyland to Universal Studios Hollywood

    Tour/Shuttle Bus

Lux Bus, Starline, and Viator Tours are three well-known transportation companies that provide service between Anaheim and the Universal Studios theme park.Which one do you think is the best? All three, though, have their own set of pros and downsides.

    • Lux Bus is a more established firm that is well-liked and trusted by many, Starline is more of a ″tour″ with narration provided by a Tour Guide, and Viator is the new kid on the block that everyone seems to be raving about.
    • I’ll go through the advantages and disadvantages of taking a bus tour as a mode of transportation in this article.
    • After that, I’ll give you a quick rundown of the three most popular tour firms!
    • Pros 1) You will not be required to drive through Los Angeles traffic and wave your fist at the Californians who are impeding your progress.
    • 2) Because most tour buses pick up at hotels near Disneyland, this might be a convenient option for certain visitors.
    • 3) On select trips, you will learn interesting facts and historical information about the city of Los Angeles.

Cons1) Be aware that you are on a bus timetable and that your journey to Universal Studios will not be as flexible as you would want. You must also arrive and depart on time for the bus, or you may be stuck if you fail to do so.2) The excursions are frequently too short to allow for a thorough exploration of the full theme park.Spending one day at Universal Studios means you’ll want to make the most of your time, and most tour companies don’t arrive at the parks until about 10:00 a.m.If you only have one day, you’ll want to make the most of it.

    Lux Bus America

The Lux Bus is a delightful and reasonably priced mode of transportation to Universal Studios. They provide a variety of transportation choices to and from Anaheim. The buses usually arrive between 7:15 and 8:15 a.m.

    • and depart Universal at 8:15 p.m.
    • on weekdays.
    • On the website, you may see the complete program as well as make a reservation.
    • In addition, you may purchase Universal tickets directly with Lux Bus by ordering the Universal Studios Hollywood Day Tour for $154 per person.
    • The only difference between this trip and the Day Trip option is that you will be purchasing park tickets via Lux Bus instead of directly from the park.
    • I like to purchase reduced airline tickets through a third-party organization such as Get Away Today.

    Cost: $38 for a round-trip ticket.

    Starline Tours

This tour includes a comprehensive narrative tour as well. This is an option that I do not particularly like for two reasons: 1) You must purchase theme park tickets from the theme park’s website, which means you will not be able to take advantage of any discounts. It is imperative that you adhere to the tour’s rigid timetable.

    • The bus departs at around 9:00 a.m.
    • and returns at approximately 6:00 p.m.
    • Unless you’re willing to spend an additional half-day at the parks, this isn’t nearly enough time to truly enjoy the attractions.
    • Having said that, if you wanted to take a tour of Hollywood outside of Universal Studios, Starline would be a wonderful option.
    • With the short duration of the Celebrity tours and the opportunity to Hop On/Off on their sightseeing buses, you may be more flexible with your Los Angeles itinerary.
    • Cost: $165 for a round-trip ticket that includes admission to Universal Studios for one day.

    Viator Tours

Previously, Amtrak Gray Line provided tour transfers to Universal Studios Hollywood, however this service was terminated a few years ago due to low passenger demand.Viator Tours has emerged as a new option. This trip is very new, but the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and it is operated by TripAdvisor, so you can be certain that you are dealing with a reputable organization.

    • The scheduled departure and arrival times are the same as those for the other trips mentioned above in this section.
    • The bus departs at around 8:45 a.m.
    • and returns between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., depending on the time of day.
    • Check out the tour dates and locations here.
    • Cost: $38 for a round-trip ticket.

Public Bus – The L.A. Metro

Taking the L.A.Metro bus from Anaheim to Universal Studios is the most cost-effective way to get between the two locations. In addition, it will take you 2 1/2 to 3 hours to get there.

    • This is, in my opinion, the worst conceivable mode of transportation to get to Universal.
    • Although the pricing appears to be attractive, I assure you that navigating the transfer arrangements will be a major hassle.
    • Additionally, it will take around 5 hours out of your day.
    • If you’re already in Los Angeles or planning to stay overnight, the Metro is an excellent mode of transportation.
    • If you’re feeling really daring, the path you’ll be taking is detailed here.
    • You may also plan your journey a bit more easily by visiting Metro’s website, which can be found here.

    1) Take the 460 Bus to the Disneyland Resort.(Consult the website to determine the location of the nearest stop.) 2) Exit at Figueroa and 7th Avenues.1) Take the Metro Red Line (subway) to 7th Street and Metro Center Stations.Arrive at the Universal/Studio City Station and get off the train.5) To get to the park, use the complimentary shuttle service provided by Universal Studios.

The shuttle pick-up location is directly across the street from the Metro station.Getting on the Shuttle The shuttle service begins at 7:00 a.m.and runs until 2 hours after the park closes, Monday through Friday.Every 15 minutes, the bus comes to pick you up.The cost of a 1-day pass with transfers included is $7.

    Driving or Renting a Car

    • When I visited the park the last time, I opted to rent a car so that I could explore the rest of Los Angeles after my day in the park.
    • The experience was also far more convenient than the alternative of taking a bus trip or using public transit.
    • I intended to spend as much time as possible in the theme park and have complete control over my schedule.
    • The drive itself is actually fairly straightforward!
    • The additional benefit was that I was able to keep the automobile till the next morning.

My last stop before checking out of the hotel was to pick up some food and water bottles for the room.Several rental firms are located in and around the Disneyland region. The Alamo in Downtown Disney, close to the AMC Theatre, is the most convenient location for visitors. The automobile will be picked up and dropped off at the parking area of the Paradise Pier Hotel..Directions to the location: 1) Take I-5 N2) Continue on US-101 N by keeping to the left.3) Take Exit 11B in the direction of Universal Studios Blvd.

    4) Continue on W.C.Fields Dr.and drive until you reach Universal Studios Boulevard. On Priceline.com, 1-day rentals start at around $40/day, and Universal Studios General Parking is $25/day.

    Taxi/Lyft/Uber

    • Taking a cab or using a ridesharing service like Lyft or Uber is undoubtedly the most convenient and fastest method to travel to Universal Studios.
    • In addition, it is the most costly mode of transportation available.
    • This is a fantastic alternative if you have a lot of money to burn, want to travel to Los Angeles as quickly as possible, and despise the thought of driving.
    • By the way, I prefer Lyft over Uber when it comes to transportation.
    • Because the organization is more customer and employee-oriented, you may feel confident in your decision to use them.

Lyft is something I use both in my own city and when abroad. The cost of a Lyft round-trip is around $125.

That all said, what’s the best way to get to Universal?

    • Honestly?
    • Driving or renting a vehicle from Disneyland to Universal Studios Hollywood is the most convenient method to get there.
    • It will be less expensive than taking a Lyft or a taxi, and it will allow you to be more flexible with your schedule than taking a bus tour.
    • The fact that you may arrive at the park early and leave the park late allows you to make the most of your time and the least amount of money spent on entry.
    • The extra time will be well worth the additional money on its own.

Make a night of it by eating supper at CityWalk or exploring the vibrant nightlife of Los Angeles! If driving in a new place is too stressful for you, using the bus is another excellent choice.
