This post has been sitting in my drafts folder for more than a year, and I’m now getting around to sharing it with you just in time for the holidays. As you are well aware, I have a serious soft spot for cupcakes.Whatever the flavor, I adore preparing cupcakes nearly as much as I enjoy eating them. From Mint Chocolate Chip Cupcakes to Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcakes, I enjoy them all.

We have potlucks at work on a regular basis, and I am always the first person to sign up for the dessert category.Cupcakes, on the other hand, are usually a crowd favorite.Despite the fact that I consider cupcakes to be quite easy, I also consider them to be rather beautiful and appropriate for almost any occasion. If you add a festive liner, a swirl of buttercream, and an extra splash of sprinkles, you have what I consider to be party perfection.

Despite how much I enjoy the portability of cupcakes, there are still instances when a bit extra packing is required — for example, bake sales – and here is where I come in.Making cupcakes in this manner is one of my favorite ways to serve them, and all of the supplies you’ll need are readily accessible at your local craft shop.

Tie the top of the bag together with the twine or ribbon after attaching your tags.

For soft frostings such as cream cheese, meringue, or Italian buttercream, I recommend attaching a spoon to the rim of the cup before frosting. The original baking pan is being used as a roasting pan.Place the cleaned cupcake pan in a roasting pan (disposable or not) that is deep enough to completely contain the tops of the frosted cakes, but not too deep that the cakes will overflow.Following cooling time, return the cupcakes to their original cups in the tin and frost them.Wrap the pan tightly with aluminum foil and you’re ready to go.

2.A shallow, resealable container with a lid.For cakes with minimal frosting, put them in a big, shallow plastic container so that they are just touching one another on the top and bottom. While traveling, make careful to maintain the container horizontal at all times.3.

Put a Lid On It: How To Ship Cupcakes in Mason Jars, from — Jessie Unicorn Moore

Continued from the extremely lovely blog Beantown Baker, Jen has come up with a smart method to enjoy birthday cake with friends who live far away: cupcakes cooked in Mason Jars! This is part of our month-long celebration of birthdays and all things sweet. Here’s what she has to say: One of the things I like the most about baking is the opportunity to share my baked products with others.Making baked goods for others brings me great delight, whether it’s for a friend who has recently had surgery, a colleague who has recently received a promotion, or for no reason at all.

Because most of my family lives more than 1000 miles away, they are rarely able to enjoy my baked products on a regular basis.Last year, as we approached what I refer to as ″birthday season,″ which includes six birthdays from October to December, I had a strong desire to bake for my family members who were approaching their birthdays.Because cupcakes are one of my favorite baked goods, I decided to gift them some cupcakes. The concept had caught my eye on the internet, and I decided to give it an attempt.

I sent cupcakes in a jar to family members all around the nation for their birthdays. When the presents arrived, they were all a little taken aback. It was great to get phone calls from each of them, in which they expressed gratitude for the innovative method I had shared my baking with them.My father was so taken with it that he is said to have informed everyone he knows about it.He also gave me a package of new jars for my birthday, which I saw as a not-so-subtle suggestion.

This year, I believe he’ll be anticipating even more cupcakes in a jar for his birthday!Instructions for Making and Shipping Cupcakes in Mason Jars You’ll need the following supplies: 1 dozen cupcakes (Jen’s recipe for Funfetti cupcakes with chocolate icing is included); 1 half-pint Mason jar each cupcake; and ribbon for embellishment

    1. Bake the cupcakes according to the package directions and allow them to cool fully. Remove the cupcake liner and cut the cupcake in two, either vertically or horizontally, depending on your preference. Half of the cupcake should be placed into a sterilized 1/2 pint wide mouth jar. Fill the container halfway with icing. Now is a good time to throw in a few fun extras, such as crumbled Oreos or sprinkles. Placing the remaining half of the cupcake in the jar is optional (if you cut the cupcake vertically, it is easier to put both halves in the jar and pipe frosting between the two pieces).
    2. The cupcake should be decorated as if it were not in its container. Place the lid and ring on the jar. If you like, add a ribbon to finish it off. Make careful to instruct your recipients to slip the lid off the jar rather of just pulling it up from the bottom. Aside from that, half of the icing will adhere to the lid.
    3. Immediately ship them, or store them in the freezer for a day or two before mailing them. I prefer to freeze them and then allow them to defrost while they are being transported to their surprised recipients.
    • Cupcakes with yellow sprinkles are called ″Funfetti Cupcakes.″ 1 cup unsalted butter, cubed and melted to room temperature
    • 3 cups cake flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 3 cups cake flour
    • Sugar, 5 big eggs, 2 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 1/4 cups buttermilk, 1/4 cup sprinkles

    1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Two 8-inch baking pans should be brushed with butter and lined with parchment paper (These cakes rose over the top of my 2-inch pans – you could very well have a mess on your hands if you try 1.5 inch pans). Remove from consideration
    2. Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium-sized mixing basin. Place the butter in a large mixing bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment and beat on medium speed until smooth. 3 minutes on MEDIUM-HIGH speed, or until the butter is light and creamy in color, should be sufficient. Stop and scrape the bottom of the basin. Using an electric mixer, cream the butter for an additional 60 seconds
    3. gradually add the sugar, 1/4 cup at a time, beating after each addition for 1 minute. Before adding each ingredient, scrape the sides of the basin. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Reduce the speed of the mixer. In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and vanilla. Alternately add the dry ingredients and the buttermilk to the bowl. Mix only until the ingredients are well combined. Scrape down the sides of the basin and continue mixing for another 15 seconds. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and level the top with a knife or an off-set spatula to make it seem even. When you lift the pan with the batter off the counter top, let it drop onto the counter top a couple of times to burst any air bubbles and enable the batter to settle, as described above. Immediately place the pans in the lower third of the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the cake is lightly browned on top and has begun to pull away from the sides of the pan and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
    4. allow the cakes and frosting to cool completely in the pans before removing them from the pans
    • Chocolate ganache is a kind of icing. 1-1/2-cup butter or margarine
    • 1/3 cup HERSHEY’S cocoa
    • 3 cups powdered sugar (I used 2 1/2 cups)
    • 1/3 cup milk
    • 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 stick (1/2-cup) butter or margarine

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the cocoa and mix well. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, mixing until the mixture has the consistency of spreading. If necessary, add a tiny bit of more milk. Add in the vanilla extract. Approximately 2 cups of whipped cream icing will keep you up to speed on all of Jen’s delicious exploits!

    1. Remove the lids off your plastic cupcake containers and throw them away or recycle them. One of the bottom portions will serve as your ″cover″ because it is preferable for each cupcake, icing and all, to have its own area. Do you understand what I’m saying?
    2. Put your cupcakes in a container and set it aside. Preparing the cupcakes in advance by freezing them earns extra points.
    3. Placing a lollipop stick through each cupcake and ensuring that the ends of each stick hit the bottom and top of the completed container is critical. If necessary, shorten the length of the sticks. In this way, you can prevent your cupcakes from bouncing about during the delivery procedure.
    4. Place the bottom of the other container on top of your improvised container and secure it together using strong tape.
    5. Place the cupcake container inside a box so that it fits tightly in the container. For safety reasons, extra packing material may be required to ensure that the container does not move around in the box.
    6. Placing your ice packs on top of this box will help keep them cool. If you want to be extra cautious, you can tape them to the box.
    7. In a thermal bag or bubble wrap, wrap the box and ice packs to prevent them from freezing.
    8. Place this in the shipping box, and if necessary, add more packing materials for cushioning.
    9. Label and decorate your box before sending it by overnight delivery service. Depending on how much you want to spend, you should budget at least $30, and maybe more. (As a point of comparison, a flat rate 1-day USPS box costs $45.) It is true that the expenses are determined by the amount of material you ship and the weight of your materials
