Pre-requisites

Using the provided installer program

Things to plan

  1. Determining your installation location (the default location is ″s3pe″ is the first step.
  2. Make a decision on whether or not you want a Start menu entry generated.
  3. Choose whether or not you wish to associate package files with s3pe: doing so allows you to open a package by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer.
  4. Determining whether to include the SendTo option (which allows you to import files into a package by right-clicking in Windows Explorer) is important.

  10. You will be prompted to choose a location for the program’s installation.
  11. Following your selections for placing the software in a specific area, adding an item to your Start menu, changing the registry, and creating a SendTo link, the installation will proceed as directed.

That completes the installation of the program!

Using the binary archive

  1. ″s3pe .7z″ should be downloaded.
  2. To execute the application, extract the archive into the place where you wish to run it.
  3. If you choose, you may add a shortcut to s3pe.exe to your start menu.

S3pe may be removed via the ″Add/Remove Programs″ or the uninstaller’s Start menu item, which is both available through the Start menu.

How to use S3PE to clean up your save-game

  1. -P2FX contributed to this article.
  2. Because of the basic game patch 1.22 for The Sims 3 Generations, memories have been restored as part of this patch.
  3. By default, the Sims will go and gather them.
  4. If something happens to an active sim while they are on the presently active lot, the game will take a snapshot of the memory to preserve the information.

Meanwhile, a large number of gamers are beginning to get Error 12 while saving their games. To make matters worse, some players’ games are now beginning to Crash To Desktop (CTD) owing to a lack of available RAM.I discovered that this new feature, as well as EA’s obtuse savegame procedure, were the root causes of the lunacy.During my trial, the coding for creating a memory snapshot appeared to be a little sluggish and unreliable. For a single occurrence, it may be necessary to capture many photos, but only one of these snapshots will be used.As for those unneeded photos, the game will save them in the savegame as rubbish, which will be removed later.

Also, if you’ve ever sent your Sims on a trip, not only are their memory snapshots duplicated, but so are their camera images, still life and portrait paintings that are stored in their inventory, among other things. The new copies will be used as resources by the game in order to show information on your screen. As for the old ones, they will not be deleted by the game, but will instead be retained in the savegame. If you send your sims traveling, my hypothesis is that they will not arrive as the original sims from their home planet, but rather as clones of the originals from their home world. As soon as you send them back to their home, the new arrivals will be ″copies of clones.″ These clones will be used to replace the original Sims in the game.

This results in the duplication of their memory snapshots, camera pictures, still life and portrait paintings that are stored in their inventories.I’d like to show you some photographs. This is the savegame that I used before I sent my Sims to Shang Simla for treatment.

  1. Take note that the home world file is 89.7MB in size, while the TravelDB.package is 56.2MB.
  2. This is the savegame that was created when they reached Shang Simla.
  3. Most notably, the TravelDB.package has increased in size to 106MB.
  4. This is the savegame that was created when they returned home.
  5. The home world file has been increased in size to 162MB, while the TravelDB.package has been increased in size to 154MB.
  6. (I’ll explain later why the home world file is growing in size as well.) So, if you want your savegame to turn into a gigantic garbage can, simply activate memories and continue traveling.
  1. It’s possible that you’ll wonder, ″What if I remove all of my Sims’ memories in-game, would the savegame automatically shrink in size?″ My response is a resounding NO.
  2. As previously stated, the memory function, as well as EA’s incomprehensible savegame method, are the root causes of this madness.
  3. What exactly is wrong with this game’s save, and why do I refer to it as ″silly″?
  4. Because EA handles the savegame as if it were a database, and it is only capable of storing new data and not deleting anything that is currently stored inside.
  1. Every time your Sim acquires a new memory, that memory will be added to the savegame; however, if you erase your Sims’ memories in-game, the snapshots of those deleted memories will not be destroyed.
  2. The same may be said about camera photographs, still life paintings, and portrait paintings.
  3. If you sell any of these items in-game, the resources that they contain will not be removed.
  4. The only objects that could be copied prior to The Sims 3 Generations (base game patch 1.22), were camera shots, still life and portrait paintings that could be found in the inventory of the Sims.
  • It wasn’t a significant concern because they were little in both quantity and size, thus it wasn’t a big deal until the memory feature was added.
  • The use of larger savegames results in increased RAM use, which causes slowdown and crashes.
  • Now that I’ve explained what’s going on, you may go on.
  • Is there a method to get rid of the resources that aren’t being utilized by the game while keeping the resources that are being used by it?
  • There’s no doubt about that!
  1. One of them was discovered by me!
  2. Simply adhere to the guidelines outlined below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. To do this cleaning task, you will require S3PE.
  2. If you don’t already have it, you can get it from this link: S3PE I’d like you to understand how to make advantage of the filter feature.
  3. For example, if I say something like ″use the filter to allow S3PE to display all resources with Tag SNAP,″ you’ll need to type ″SNAP″ underneath the words ″Tag,″ click the choose box, and then click the buttons ″set″ and ″filter active.″ As shown in the illustration below: Using the S3PE alone, it’s hard to tell the difference between utilized and unused resources, but I noticed that if you save your household to the family bin library, the game would only use those resources that have been saved to the library and not those that have not.
  1. For this step, I require you to begin the game and load the savegame that you wish to shrink. After you have loaded, stop the game and move any camera shots, prom images, still life and portrait paintings hanging on the walls, to any of your Sims’ inventory. Please keep in mind that you are not required to obtain all of the paintings, only the following: These are paintings that necessitate the use of a photograph in order for your sim to paint them. If all your camera photos are stored inside the camera, just grab the camera. If you ignore this step they will be lost forever. Now proceed to Edit Town mode and save your household to the Family Bin/Library.
  2. If you do switch households and you have stuff you want to keep in other households, switch to them and repeat this step. When you’ve completed, leave the game without saving
  3. \s Now enter ″My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Library″ and sort by date modified. The newest file is the one you just saved. If you saved multiple households there will be multiple files. Move it or them to a temporary place. Now use S3PE to open the file(s), use the filter to display all resources with Tag _IMG: then select them all and export as files to a temporary location
  4. \s Now it’s time to clean the savegame. Open ″My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves\’Your Savegame Name’.sims3″ Make a backup first! Then use S3PE to open TravelDB.package. This file is where your image resources are ″normally″ stored. Now delete everything with ResourceGroup 0x0269D005. This the group of memory snapshots, camera photos, still life and portrait paintings. Now delete everything with ResourceGroup 0x02722299. This is the group of prom pictures. When you’ve finished, save and close S3PE
  5. \s Now use S3PE to open your world file. The name will be different depending on what you play. If you play Sunset Valley it’s Sunset Valley 0x0859db3c.nhd
  6. if you play Moonlight Falls it’s Moonlight Falls 0x09b61110.nhd. Repeat the operation you have done to the TravelDB.package. Note that if your Sims have never travelled, there won’t be many items because this game has another glitch – when arriving at a destination or home world, it writes image resources normally stored in TravelDB.package in both TravelDB.package and the world file
  7. Now you have deleted all image resources including the ones that should and shouldn’t be deleted but do you remember those files you exported from your family bin? Those are the ones that shouldn’t be deleted. Use S3PE to open TravelDB.package and import those files back in.

When you’re finished, the cleaning job will be completed. Take a look at what I’ve accomplished: 316MB â 151MB â 316MB â 151MB

Additional Information

  1. During my testing, I discovered that images made from the Showtime Photo Booths are slightly different from other types of photographs.
  2. In the event that any of your sims have one of these items in their inventory while traveling, they will not produce duplicate resources for themselves.
  3. It is possible that someone will delve at the coding and discover why they are different.
  4. They are associated with ResourceGroup 0x02BD69A0.

Hello, In order to edit CC files you have to have them in the sims 4 studio CC section. Copy the file you want to edit to: C:\Users\(desktop username)\Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods.Also, to add anything for Aliens you have to go to categories (next to the swatch and texture tab) and look forthe ″Occult″ section, and tick the alien box. You can also do this for stuff that is for aliens only that you want for humans.I think ticking these bosses will also enable CC eyes to be genetic, but I can’t be 100% certain.Good luck!

Custom Content is anything that does not alter the script/tuning of an object or item’s appearance or functionality. For example, dress, hair, cosmetics, furnishings, and so on.These sorts of objects are frequently the last things to break and give you problems. They are also the most expensive.The.package file extension will be used to identify these ″CC″ components.Generally speaking, mods are items that alter the script/tuning of a game or an object.

These fail on a regular basis and must be examined and updated on a regular basis.Any time a new patch is released and EA makes modifications or introduces new features into the game, it has the potential to break a mod.As a result, something you were using can work one day and then stop working the next following a software update. Some of these modifications also include python script files (with the.TS4Script File Extension). These script files should not be unzipped because doing so would cause the mod to not function as intended.

These ″Mod″ items will have at least one.package file and, on rare occasions, a.ts4script file associated with them.

How to Install Custom Content & Mods

  1. Installing custom content is as simple as downloading it from the website of your favorite author.
  2. The.zip or.rar file type is used by some of the things you download.
  3. These files must be unpacked using a tool such as 7-Zip or WinRAR before being used.
  4. When you unzip the files, you will notice a folder containing.package files.

These files are responsible for the game’s ability to read custom material. All of these.package files should be placed in your mods folder (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4) after installation.The.package files may be stored up to 5 directories deep in your Mods folder (*see next section for more information on sorting), allowing you to arrange them in whatever way you choose per category.Mods are a little different than other players.Script Modifications and Tuning Mods are the two types of mods available (as previously stated in the preceding section).Tuning modifications are simply.package files, and they may be organized in the same way as custom content can be.

They will function correctly regardless of where you place them in your modifications folder.Note: It is recommended that tuning mods be kept in their own folder because they are prone to breaking and need to be updated when this occurs. At the very least, script modifications consist of a.package file and a.ts4script file. You cannot have more than one folder containing these mods in your mods folder. The script folder is located in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods/Script Folder, for example.

Any files with the.ts4script file extension must not be unzipped before being used; otherwise, they will not function. These kinds of tweaks must be updated on a regular basis (Almost every patch, depending on the mod). It’s best to keep modifications like this in their own folder if at all possible.

  1. MC Command Center and all of its files are kept in a separate folder from the rest of my computer’s folders.
  2. This includes any.packages and.ts4script files that are exclusive to that mod.) Any other mods that contain.ts4script files will also receive their own separate files.

Keep your Mods folder sorted

  1. Maintaining order in your modifications folder is one of the most effective strategies to ensure that you continue to have a healthy gaming experience.
  2. Everyone does this in a unique way, which allows them to keep track of what is what.
  3. But we’re going to talk about how I keep my modifications folder organized in this lesson.
  4. Here’s a link to my modifications folder: In the picture above you can see that I have certain objects divided and labelled according to the contents of each folder.

Let’s have a look at a couple of the files to demonstrate my sorting strategy.Defaults are anything that is used as a stand-in for other things in the system.Items that have the ability to directly override game content. For example, default replacement skins, eyes, and so forth. Those are the modifications that I use the most and that need to be checked for changes on a regular basis.Main Mods I store them all in one location so that I can see precisely where I need to go and what I need to update once each patch is released.

Others CC — This folder contains all of the standard custom content (not altered) that I use, which I categorize according to the developer. This makes it simple for me to add new things, locate damaged objects, or change an existing item.(as seen in the illustration below) It makes little difference how you name or organize your files as long as you know what you’re looking at.Just be sure to keep modifications and special stuff separate. It is far more convenient to have a few files dedicated to modifications than it is to have to go through lots of custom material in order to discover that one problematic mod later on.

Rename your custom content

  1. One of the most frustrating aspects of utilizing a large amount of custom material is that your game may load slowly and may become sluggish.
  2. It is possible that any.package file labeled with a special character, or even simply a space, would result in the game running and loading slowly.
  3. This is due to the fact that the game requires more time to read files containing these types of characters.
  4. You may either rename your files manually or use the application Bulk Rename Utility to do so for you.

Bulk Rename Utility is my personal favorite since it allows you to alter several package filenames at the same time.Learn how to utilize the Bulk Rename Utility by watching the video below. When you first launch the software, you will be presented with a plethora of information.Don’t be concerned, we will not be making many changes! You will see a window in the upper left-hand corner of the screen where you may go to the files that you wish to rename.Once you have located the folder containing the files, the contents of the folder will appear next to the window in which you have located the folder.

Select all of the things you desire to rename from the drop-down menu.(You may choose them one at a time, or use Shift+Right Click to select them all at the same time.) When they have been picked, they will turn blue in color. After that, locate the box labeled ″Remove (5).″ Only the following elements should be changed: Put a single space in the box next to the word ″Chars.″ The term ″Sym.″ has a checkbox next to it, which you should choose.Make certain that it has been checked.Once you have the Sym.

box checked and your space in Chars.entered, you are finished. You may rename the file by selecting ″Rename″ from the drop-down menu in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  1. It is normal to see several pop-up messages informing you that the application is modifying files; simply click ″Ok.″ Your file will be renamed after the process is complete!
  2. There are no spaces or special characters in this sentence.
  3. Your game will now load and run more quickly.
  4. Here is a gif of each stage in the process of renaming a couple of my.package files that I described above:

Merging Package Files

  1. It is also possible to integrate your custom content.package files, which can reduce load times and improve game performance even further.
  2. In other words, you are taking a number of.package files and merging them into a single.package file that contains all of the items you have chosen.
  3. This is something I personally do as a courtesy to the designer.
  4. As a result, I am aware of what is contained within the combined file.

NOTE: Do not mix mod files; doing so will cause the mods to become corrupt and will result in them not working the majority of the time.Custom Content is the only thing that can be merged. In other words, you should not combine any.ts4script files or.pacakge files that were included with the.ts4script files. As a result, the mod will crash 9/10 times if you do this.It is necessary to use the Sims 4 Studio application in order to merge.package files.Which is accessible for both the PC and the Macintosh platforms.

Upon completion of the download and installation of The Sims 4 Studio, launch the software. In the navigation box, you will notice the phrase ″Content Management.″ Select ″Merge Packages″ from the drop-down menu.(as seen in the illustration below) A new window will open as a result of this. You may use this area to drag and drop all of the package files you want to combine. As soon as you have all of the.package files you desire in the window, select ″merge.″ A dialog will appear, prompting you to name and save your new merged.package file.

Follow the prompts.Fill up the blanks with a filename (I name mine after the author) and then click ″save.″ Depending on how many files you are combining, this procedure may take a considerable amount of time.Just sit back and let it do its job.

  1. Once the process is complete, you will receive an email stating that the x/x files have been merged.
  2. (as seen in the illustration below)

Batch Fixes for Custom Content

  1. When a new game patch is released, things start to break.
  2. There are moments when a lot of things happen…
  3. In the meanwhile, due to the Sims 4 Studio, we can quickly and easily address some of these flaws with our favorite custom content.
  4. Were you irritated by the sight of random townies using bespoke material that you had not assigned to them?

Are you having problems with items that aren’t performing what they’re supposed to?Then take a look at what you can fix in bulk.NOTE: Before merging custom material, make sure to execute any batch repairs that may be necessary.Even if you do not have a pack for the batch fixes (for example, Cats and Dogs Batch Fix, etc.), you should still complete them.As EA makes these adjustments to items in the Base Game, they will not be applied to the packs themselves.By executing batch repairs on freshly downloaded custom content on a regular basis, you may eliminate a large number of issues.

Please see the link below for a step-by-step guide on how to do a Batch Fix with Sims 4 Studio!

Last Exception Files

  1. What exactly are the most recent exception files?
  2. Files with the extension.txt are provided by Mc Command Center and other modifications to inform you when an issue has occurred in your game’s code.
  3. It is possible that they are caused by out of date modifications, the failure to update your game, and the failure to clear your cache, or even by EA itself.
  4. In the event that your game creates a ″LE″ file, you will receive an alert similar to the one shown below.

The text displayed on the warning will vary based on which modifications you are using to generate it.However, they are all telling you the same thing at the same time. This file may be found in the game’s folder with the name actual.txt.Where you may learn how to analyze the issue and determine how to resolve it, as well as what caused it.Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 (Download)

Installing The Sims 3 Downloads

  1. It is critical that you have the most recent patch loaded; otherwise, you will be unable to install downloads from TSR or they will not perform as intended in the game environment.
  2. To patch your game, navigate to the Updates tab in the Game Launcher and select ″Patch Game.″ The files that can be downloaded from TSR include sims3packs, package files, and zip files.
  3. If you receive a ZIP file after downloading, you may extract the Sims3Packs or packages from the archive using the operating system’s built-in ZIP handling functionality (s).

How to Download Mods in The Sims 4

  1. How do YouTube Simmers get their custom content (also known as ″CC″) into their Sims 4 game?
  2. Have you ever wondered how they do it?
  3. Electronic Arts has never issued an official explanation on how to acquire CC in The Sims 4, and while there are a plethora of YouTube tutorials available, many of them are confusing.
  4. Known as ″Mods,″ custom content is a collection of new assets and behaviors that have been generated by other players with the goal of complementing and expanding upon the main game that Maxis has provided.

Clothing for your Sims, qualities, goals, and a variety of other items are frequently included in this material.Users contribute to the creation and testing of custom content, which is an important element of the Sims community.Maxis, on the other hand, encourages and supports the modding industry!More information about this may be found on the The Sims 4 Mods and Game Updates FAQ page.Following is a full instruction on how to enable and download modifications in The Sims 4 on Windows 10 (and other operating systems).

Set Up Custom Content

Locate and Open Your Resource.cfg File

  1. Once The Sims 4 has been launched and mods have been enabled, navigate to the Mods folder within the Sims 4 game.
  2. The default location for your Sims 4 folder is in your Documents folder, which is where it should be.
  3. Once you have opened the game with modifications enabled, a Mods folder will be created inside the Sims 4 folder on your computer.
  4. A file named ″Resource.cfg″ may be found in the Mods folder.

Right-click it to open it in a simple text editing application, such as Notepad, by selecting Open With > Simple Text Editor. You should see something along the lines of this, but with only one line: Priority 500 is a high-priority classification.PackedFile *.package PackedFile */*.package PackedFile */*.package PackedFile */*/*.package is a compressed file.PackedFile */*/*/*.package is a compressed file.PackedFile */*/*/*/*.package */*/*/*/*.package PackedFile */*/*/*/*/*/*.package is a compressed file. This indicates how many directories deep the system will search for modifications and CC files in.

The number of asterisks represents the number of folders under the current folder.Six should be the default, as indicated in this illustration. If you want to add additional, simply follow the same procedure as before.

Create New Folders in the Mods Folder

  1. This is largely for individuals who haven’t created any folders within the Mods folder yet, or who have created folders but haven’t put anything into them.
  2. If you already have a handful of folders with items in them but a slew of things that aren’t, go ahead and follow through with the instructions.
  3. Create two folders, one titled ″Build/Buy″ and the other labeled ″CAS.″ By creating folders from the outset, you’ll be better equipped to keep your data organized later on down the road.

Enable Mods in Your Game

  1. After loading the Sims 4 game, you’ll see a three-dot indicator in the top-right corner of the main menu.
  2. This indicates that you’ve completed the tutorial.
  3. When you click on this, you’ll be sent to the configuration menu.
  4. Select the ″Enable Custom Content and Mods″ option from the ″Other″ menu after clicking the ″Other″ tab.

That was the easiest part of the process.Make sure you check the box next to ″Script Mods Allowed.″ When all of the boxes are checked in the green, it indicates that the modifications have been enabled.

Check That the Mods Folder Is Now in Your EA Folder

  1. When you downloaded your game, you were given the option of selecting a folder in which to install The Sims 4.
  2. Locate the Mods folder by navigating to it and selecting it.
  3. You should be able to locate this in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > Mods, however it is possible that you have installed it in a different place.
  4. We recommend that you use the built-in search box in File Explorer to assist you in locating the folder.

Choose a Mod and Download

  • Reading the tiny print is really crucial when you’re playing around with modifications and installing them. The original game is compatible with a large number of CC (no packs are necessary), but many of the mods available will require a pack for one reason or another, so keep that in mind when browsing (like a re-texture of a base game item). For the sake of this lesson, I selected a few modifications that are compatible with the main game, which are listed below. You’ll notice that the description of each of these mod sites includes the phrase ″base game compatible″: the Grim Cookies CC Collection
  • the Clumsyalienn Female Autumn CC Collection Bonnie Hair and Stephanine Sims are both actresses. Top Ethan
  • Ethan Top
  • Ethan Top
  • Please keep in mind that the ″Female Autumn Collection″ is divided into several files, allowing you to pick and choose what you wish to download. Packages will occasionally arrive in different boxes, although this is not usually the case. It is possible that a set will only be offered as a combined package of material. A brief selection of my favorite and most reputable credit card sites is provided below: In the meanwhile, Peace’s Place

Move the Files to Your Mods Folder

  1. Locate the downloaded files on your computer and then drag and drop the files into the The Sims 4 Mods folder manually by double clicking on them.
  2. Subfolders for the Mods Tutorial (any name would do) should be created in the Mods folder, and all of the ″.package″ files from the downloads folder should be moved into the Mods Tutorial folder as well.
  3. Items like as clothing, hair, and accessories that show in the ″Create a Household″ screen should be put in the ″CAS″ folder, while Build/Buy CC should be kept in the ″Build Buy Mods″ folder, and so on and so forth.
  4. It is possible to identify damaged files that are causing problems in your game by keeping your directories tidy.

Putting freshly downloaded modules in a separate folder also allows you to run the game and see if you like the new mods you’ve downloaded before committing to them.We recommend that you place freshly downloaded CC in a folder titled ″new mods″ in order to keep track of everything. If you start the game and later decide that you don’t like what you’ve downloaded, it’s simple to browse to the new folder and find out which file to remove from your computer. The file names for the downloaded content for this how-to guide are shown in the screenshot above, which was previously referred to in this article.

Launch Your Game!

  1. Once you’ve arrived at the ″Create a Household″ screen, navigate to the ″Hair″ area by clicking on it.
  2. It’s possible that you’re having problems discovering the custom content you’ve downloaded.

  4. This filter may be enabled on any screen, including the Build/Buy screen!

What Is a Mod versus a Script Mod?

  1. As a result of your experience with The Sims 4 custom content, you’re probably asking why we enabled script modifications for you.
  2. script mods, as opposed to previously released Maxis code, are coding modifications that let players to change the behavior of the game.
  3. One popular script mod is The Sims 4 MC Command Center Mod, which was written by the user Deaderpool and is available for download.
  4. The MC Command Center Mod provides a plethora of possibilities in the form of several modules that address a variety of different tasks, such as changing household costs, making chosen sims immortal, pregnancies, and even establishing plot progression-style mechanisms, among others.

This mod is capable of pretty much anything you can imagine, and it is updated on a regular basis to reflect the latest developments. We’ve previously covered how to enable script modifications, but what about the MC Command Center mod?Where do you put it in the Mods folder? As a first step, make sure that all of your modules (and packages) are placed in the same folder, and that this folder is not more than one level deep in the The Sims 4 mod folder hierarchy.Example: The Sims 4MCCC is acceptable, but The Sims 4MCCC is not acceptable; nevertheless, The Sims 4Script ModsMCCC is acceptable. When searching for script modifications, the Sims 4 client will only go up one level in the hierarchy.

You can see in the picture above that the ″McCmdCenter″ file is located at the very first level of the Mods folder, which is where it should be.Script modifications will not appear in your game if you do not follow these instructions correctly.

Save and Back Up Your Sims 4 Folder

  1. A good rule of thumb is to always back up your Sims 4 folder to a USB drive or external storage in case something goes wrong with your computer.
  2. Click on your file and select ″Copy″ (Ctrl + C on your keyboard).
  3. Navigate to the secure place you’ve established, and then right-click and select ″Paste″ (Ctrl + V on your keyboard).
  4. It also assures that if you have to reload the game, you will have an updated copy of your game (including your Sims families and mods).

It takes time to amass a collection, and losing progress is a hassle, just as losing any stored data fo
