  • This has turned out to be rather intriguing thus far.
  • On this, I had to go check my RPO plate in the glove box, which I had forgotten about.
  • I have a 2007 NBS with a CC 5.3, Z-71, and 2-WD that I really enjoy.

Chevrolet Adds the Tough ZR2 Package for ’22

Chevrolet offers the ZR2 off-road package to the Silverado for the first time, which includes unique dampers, electronic locks, and 33-inch off-road tires, among other things.

Chevrolet is also redesigning the inside of its famous Silverado full-size pickup truck for the 2022 model year, according to the company.

The new interior includes a revised dashboard with a 13.4-inch media screen and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, as well as higher-quality materials than those used in the existing model.

  • Chevrolet’s new Silverado pickup truck just recently made its debut in 2019, but in the fiercely competitive full-size pickup market, there’s never a terrible moment to introduce a new model.
  • The redesigned interior of the Silverado, available on vehicles equipped with the LT-trim package and higher, is the vehicle’s major attraction.
  • The more intriguing news for ’22 Silverados is the arrival of a ZR2 option, which is geared squarely at off-roading enthusiasts.
  • The redesigned inside of the 2022 Silverado will be the most noticeable change for most people.
  • A 13.4-inch touchscreen is located in the center of the dash of Silverado trucks with the LT and above trim levels.
  • Along with the new touchscreen, there’s a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster that can be customized.
  • A stronger attention on material selection and design is joining the ranks of consumer technology.

These upgrades to the Silverado’s interior should help it better compete with the opulent interiors offered in higher-end Ram and Ford pickups. The addition of the ZR2 designation to the Silverado portfolio is, without a doubt, the highlight of the new model for enthusiast drivers.Since its inception in the 1970s, the ZR2 package has been featured on a variety of vehicles, most recently the Chevrolet Colorado. In practice, the ZR2 designation merely indicates that the vehicle has been designed to withstand the rigors of off-roading.If you’re looking at a Chevrolet Silverado with the ZR2 package, that means you’re getting a 6.2-liter V-8 engine and a set of 33-inch off-road tires.

  • Aside from that, this off-road-ready equipment incorporates Multimatic 40mm DSSV spool-valve dampers as well as e-lockers in both the front and rear.
  • Because of this gear, this Silverado is prepared to take on anything that is in its way.
  • Chevrolet also included a one-of-a-kind skid plate kit with the Silverado ZR2 to protect the vehicle’s pricey components from trail damage.
  • Chevrolet is also introducing its Super Cruise driver assistance system to the Silverado series, which completes the key changes for ’22.
  • Super Cruise, which was previously exclusively available on Cadillac vehicles, allows you to drive hands-free on a limited number of highways.
  • This technology isn’t fully autonomous, but it does relieve the driver of part of the burden of heavy lifting in certain situations.
  • In order to purchase one of these new Silverado pickup trucks, you’ll have to wait until the spring to see them at your local truck dealership.
  • Even so, given the ongoing competition for computer chips, it is possible that your item may arrive in your driveway more slowly than usual.
  • Will the Silverado’s new features help it win the truck wars that have raged for decades?

What does it mean?Z06, Z34, Z28, Z71, Z66, and so on are all examples of the letter ″Z.″ Isn’t it true that the suspension has anything to do with this? But does the letter itself have any significance? All of the participants are accurate in stating that these are RPO codes, but I believe it went farther than that. There was no ″let’s put the RPO code on the back of the car″ moment.Instead, I believe it signifies that it is a step up from a regular ol’ Camaro, and it has caught on so much that GM now uses it to signify the ″sport″ version of the vehicle, which is usually found at the top trim levels as well as the base model.

For example, you won’t find a Z-71 with a stick shift and manual windows; those vehicles were marked with 4×4 stickers instead of regular stickers.Until this year, they were typically quite well-equipped, and they were always in 4WD (trucks anyway, and there are other threads for that rant).Posted 3,378 times since joining on April 15, 2005.rmodys expressed himself as follows: SmaartAasSaabr correctly identified the piece of paper as the SPI (Service Parts Identification) paper, which, as he said, is located on the bottom of the rear deck lid and occasionally within reach of the driver’s seat.

  1. We discovered my build sheet, which had only the letter Z65 and a few codes (like two or three) for the gas tank, as well as the build numbers.
  2. The build sheet and the SPID are two different things that both contain the same information; the SPID is attached to the car after it has been completed for future reference, and the build sheet is printed out and attached to the chassis so that they know what parts to screw onto it as the car is being assembled and assembled.
  3. It is also what we look at on the General Motors VIS when we are attempting to figure out what options a car has without physically looking at the SPID on the car.

They were looking for something attractive, something that would appeal to the males who would be purchasing the strong motor. As a result, they chose L69.The person who authorized it came close to being fired because he used such a controversial engine code.I believe that the Z28 was the catalyst that pushed the RPO code model out into the world and kicked off everything.

  1. In 1967, the ″Z28″ model did not have any emblems, distinctive trim, or anything like that.
  2. You’ve got a stiffer suspension, a quick ratio box, a 302ci engine, and a close ratio manual transmission in your possession.
  3. In the front, there are disk brakes.
  4. There were also further options available on top of that, such as the renowned and extremely uncommon JL8 package, which included the cross-ram, two 4-barrel carburetors, and four-wheel disk brakes.
  5. The RS package was also available, however it was only available for Camaros from 1967 to 1973 and was only available as a cosmetic package.
  6. After that, RS went away for a while until reappearing in 1987/88 with the same exterior styling as a Z28 and wider 15-inch wheels, but with the mid-level 305 V8.

Cheap Thrills: Driving Chevrolet’s $45,000, 420-hp 2020 Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss

  • Posted by PickupTrucks.com Staff on October 19, 2020 | Photos courtesy of Aaron Bragman for Cars.com. Aaron Bragman contributed to this article. Recently, something unusual arrived in my driveway: a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 double-cab pickup truck, which was outfitted in the most basic Custom Trail Boss configuration. The cabin was a bit of a surprise when I opened the door and discovered it had less amenities than a coach seat on JetBlue: fabric bench seats, a small 7-inch multimedia screen, no steering wheel audio controls, semiautomatic single-zone air conditioning, and vinyl floors. A quick look at the window sticker proved it: $45,510 for the vehicle as tested, including the destination cost. But when I looked a bit closer, I saw that it was equipped with an optional 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produced 420 horsepower and 460 pounds-feet of torque. It was at that point that I realized what I was sitting in. This was the least priced off-road-spec Silverado you could purchase, yet it was equipped with the most powerful engine Chevy had to offer. Chevrolet’s top off-road configuration, the truck was a massive, black 4×4 pickup with Trail Boss style, hefty tires mounted on blacked-out wheels, blacked-out trim, and the Z71 Off-Road Package – it was a true bad-ass machine. Related: The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Delivers More Power and Towing Capabilities than Ever Before You get everything an off-road truck owner could want: a 2-inch lift, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires, and a Z71 Off-Road Package that includes monotube shocks and skid plates, as well as electronic hill descent control and a heavy-duty air filter. The Trail Boss trim comes with a 2-inch lift and Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac all-terrain tires. A low-range transfer case, an automatic locking rear differential, the trailer tow package with power adjustable heated mirrors and red tow hooks, and other features were included as part of the package. It also came with a spray-in bedliner, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Custom Convenience Package, which included remote start, a rear window defroster, and a lockable EZ Lift tailgate, among other features. However, in order to keep costs down, it is only available in the double-cab format, rather than the bigger and more expensive crew cab, and it is only available in the lower-priced Custom Trail Boss trim level, rather than the more expensive LT Trail Boss. Video related to this: The end result is an off-road vehicle that is really competent, absolutely comfortable, and minimally but yet effectively equipped for a price that is far lower than what one would expect to spend in these days of extremely costly rigs. Even though I wasn’t able to take this particular vehicle off-road, I’ve had experience driving similar vehicles in the mud and can speak to its superior capability. On the road, the package is civilized and eminently usable as a daily driver, thanks in no small part to the Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, which provide a successful combination of off-road ability because they’re chunky and blocky for good rock and mud traction, and relatively quiet on-road comfort because they have soft tread blocks with siping for icy weather traction, among other characteristics. Although not directly responsible, Chevrolet’s chassis and vehicle dynamics engineers are mainly responsible for how well the Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boast performs under all conditions. Because of its high-riding off-road suspension, it isn’t harsh or uncomfortable at all, and it has outstanding body control and acceptable steering precision. However, considering the off-road nature of this vehicle and the low trim level it is equipped with, the cabin is more tolerable than in other Silverados I’ve tested in recent months. The vinyl flooring, basic black plastics, and tough-feeling fabric seats all contribute to the rugged, rough-and-tumble attitude of this low-cost Trail Boss model, which is a good thing. The narrower backseat legroom in this double cab is obvious when compared to the spaciousness of a full-size crew cab, but it’s still rather comfortable for two persons of average height. In order to distinguish this $45,000 off-road truck from something more elegant and pricey, Chevrolet has chosen to display it. To make a point, consider the following: Compared to a minimally-equipped 2020 Ram 1500 Rebel V-8 4×4, the Custom Trail Boss trim with the optional 6.2-liter V-8 is at least $3,120 less costly. It also has 25 more horsepower, two additional gears in its gearbox, and a 1-inch greater lift in its suspension. And for 2021, Chevrolet announced that previously optional features such as the $800 Custom Convenience and $275 Infotainment packages, which include the EZ Lift power lock and release tailgate, LED cargo lights in the bed, remote start, satellite radio, and OnStar concierge service, will now be standard on the Custom Trail Boss. According to the manufacturer, the basic price of the truck will increase by only $725, putting the new beginning price for a 2021 Silverado 1500 Custom Trail Boss double cab 4×4 with the 6.2-liter V-8 engine $44,890 including destination, compared to $44,165 for the 2020 model. The Safety Confidence Package, which includes forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking, steering wheel audio controls, and a 4.2-inch driver information center in the gauge cluster, will be included as standard equipment on the 2021 model, further increasing the Custom Trail Boss’ value proposition. It is the quality of the Ram 1500 Rebel’s inside that distinguishes it from the Chevy Silverado, and it seems far more expensive than the truck’s asking price. While the two vehicles may be comparable in terms of capability, equipment, and overall value, the Rebel retains the advantage in terms of how effectively the cabin has been finished. But if you favor the more rougher design of the Chevy over the posher style of the Ram Rebel, your personal choice may push you in a different direction from the majority of the population. Chevrolet’s bargain-basement monster truck, on the other hand, makes an extremely strong argument for consideration. AT4/Trail Boss Plus 2.0

Customers of ReadyLIFT® have requested it, and we have fulfilled their request. We revealed our new leveling and SST lift kit choices for the all-new GM 1500 trucks in the fall of last year.We intentionally excluded the GMC AT4 and Chevy Silverado Trail Boss pickup trucks with factory lift kits from our list.

  1. The AT4 and Trail Boss come with a 2″ front lift as standard equipment.
  2. This front lift incorporates a longer front shock/strut assembly, which helps to improve handling.
  3. There are various difficulties that arise with using a typical leveling system on these factory raised vehicles, including binding issues with the original control arm ball joint and contact issues with the lower strut/CV axle combination.
  4. The 69-3920 SST Lift Kit is designed to function in conjunction with the factory 2″ front lift.
  5. This kit contains a top mount strut spacer, as well as a pre-load spacer to restrict droop, as well as the same premium grade upper control arms that are already available in our 66-3921 leveling kit (sold separately).
  6. An OE style 3″ tall cast iron rear lift block as well as a set of rear bump stop extension cups are also included, resulting in a complete AT4/Trail Boss-specific bolt-on lift kit that gives 2 inches of front raise and 1 inch of back lift.

This new lift kit idea is comparable to our previously successful TRD Pro Plus 2 SST Lift Kit, which was also developed particularly to operate with the factory OE suspension lift that was previously mentioned. It is highly essential to us that you place your faith in ReadyLIFT to supply high-quality, precision-engineered goods. You can rest confident that these all-new SST lift kits are the most dependable and best-performing suspension improvement option available for the AT4/Trail Boss pickup trucks on the market.AT4 – Maximum tire size 305/55-20, offset wheel 20×9 0 Trail Boss – Max tire 295/65-20, 20×9 0 offset wheel Trail Boss – Max tire 295/65-20, 20×9 0 offset wheel NOTICE: The use of the Auto 4 HI function is not advised.

AT4 – Maximum tire size 305/55-20, offset wheel 20×9 0 Trail Boss – Max tire 295/65-20, 20×9 0 offset wheel Trail Boss – Max tire 295/65-20, 20×9 0 offset wheel The following is a note about tire size: ReadyLIFT wheel and tire fitting recommendations are generally based on Wheel Pros wheels and Nitto tires. The product differences between tire and wheel manufacturers will result in tire specifications and dimensions that are significantly different from one another. These differences will include but not be limited to overall diameter, rolling diameter, tread width, aspect ratio, lug pattern, sidewall construction, inflation pressure, among others.Prior to installation, every tire and wheel combination should be tested for proper fit.

In order to learn more about the proper tire fitting for your application, speak with your local installer.Note on Ride Quality: When raising a car and installing aftermarket wheels and tires, the structure and material quality of a tire manufacturer’s tire might have an impact on the ride quality of the vehicle.Increased wheel and tire size on a vehicle results in most bigger aftermarket truck and SUV tires being 10-ply (or more) E tires, as opposed to the standard OEM 6-ply C tires on smaller vehicles.

The feeling of suspension stiffness is increased as a result of the more rigid sidewall structure, which is commonly referred to as ride harshness. When comparing tires of different types (All-Season against All-Terrain or Mud-Terrain versus Trail-Terrain), it’s important to note that the changes in ride, handling, traction, noise, fuel economy, and wear can be substantial. Please keep in mind that tire and wheel selection will typically have a significant influence on the overall ride and handling experience.SAEJ2492 You accept that your car’s suspension has been changed as a result of putting this product on your vehicle. As a result, the handling of this vehicle may differ from that of similarly equipped factory cars.In order to avoid losing control or rolling over while making rapid curves or performing sudden maneuvers, extra caution must be exercised as with any vehicle.

  • Always buckle your seat belts and drive cautiously, keeping in mind that decreased speeds and specialist driving skills may be necessary in some cases.
  • In the event that you do not operate this vehicle safely, you might suffer significant harm or even death.
  • This vehicle should not be driven unless you are familiar with its distinct handling characteristics and are confident in your ability to retain control under all driving circumstances.

Has anyone heard of a Z92 Suspension Package for a NNBS?

Member since September 29, 2014 with 1,627 posts Discussion starter since July 29, 2018 In the process of shopping for a secondhand truck for himself, one of my friends came upon a Chevrolet Silverado that, instead of having a Z71 badge on its bed, had a Z92 sticker. After calling the dealership that was selling the truck, I was advised that the suspension package had been fitted by the dealership. It was installed by a specific dealership that had collaborated with American Luxury Coach ″ALC,″ and it comes in a variety of packages that could be installed when you purchased your truck new and paid the $8-15,000 premium for these packages to be installed.

  1. A 6″ lift kit with Bilstein 5100 Adjustable Struts/Shocks, 35″ tires and your choice of wheels, Gauge Cluster Graphics Package, upgraded brake kit consisting of 4-Piston Calipers and 14″ Rotors up front and a Rear Disc Conversion out back, OEM Fender Flares, Side Steps, Chrome Side Mirror Caps, Cat-Back Exhaust, Intake Kit, and a Tune were all included in the purchase price, which was also covered I have never encountered a Tune that did not invalidate the manufacturer’s guarantee (Except on the Sonic RS with Exhaust Package).
  2. Among the extras that were not included in the vehicle he looked at were ″Z92″ custom leather seats, window vent shades, ALC Blackout Pkg., ALC High Line Trim Pkg., some chrome goodies, and a few other things.
  3. However, things might have changed since this truck was purchased brand new in 2010.
  4. The following is the company’s website.
  5. Here is a picture of the vehicle.
  6. The Dealer also informed me that, at the time this vehicle was purchased, American Luxury Coach offered an upgrade engine package for trucks equipped with the 6.2-liter engine.

This increased the power to 460 horsepower and 500 torque without the need of a turbocharger or supercharger. It appears to be no longer available, and I have been unable to locate any information on it.However, I would want to know what they performed to reach that level of power while still maintaining their warranty. It makes me think of Lingenfelter.
