The Ram Express: Cheap, Fast. Good?

    1. Choose two of the following: good, inexpensive, and fast.
    2. That is, according to the proverb.
    3. In the 2019 RAM 1500 Express, you’ll get a 390-horsepower HEMI engine, a coil-sprung chassis that reportedly has greater dynamic attributes than the competition, and some youth-oriented goodies like 20-inch wheels, all for a starting price of roughly $23,830 out the door.
    4. It goes without saying that this is the pricing for the conventional cab type.
    5. The last time that body style ruled the roost in pickupville was a long time ago, though.
    6. RAM’s excuse, well, justification is that this vehicle is intended towards teenagers and young adults.

According to the press release: Beyond the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine with 390 horsepower and 407 pounds-feet of torque, the Ram 1500 Express is laden with extras that highlight its high-performance nature. The edgy, monochromatic color scheme of the Ram 1500 Express is the first thing that drivers will notice about it.High-performance is communicated by a body-colored grille with black honeycomb inserts, a body-colored front fascia, and a body-colored rear fascia with chrome-tipped twin exhaust tips.Fog lights and 20-inch alloy wheels with locking lug nuts will also be standard equipment on the new Ram model. There’s also a locking tailgate, a cargo lamp, a rear-bumper step pad, side-view mirrors that measure 6 inches by 9 inches, and rear wheel-well liners.

    • A 160-amp alternator, a 26-gallon fuel tank, a 3.55 rear axle ratio, a 700-amp maintenance-free battery, a four- and seven-pin trailer wiring harness, heavy-duty front and rear shock absorbers, front and rear stabilizer bars, power rack-and-pinion steering, halogen headlamps, heavy-duty engine and transmission cooling, and a full-size spare tire are also included as standard features.
    • The 1500 Express will be equipped with a heavy-duty vinyl 40/20/40 split-bench seat, and purchasers will be able to choose between vinyl or carpeted flooring on the inside.
    • A number of other features include air conditioning, an instrument cluster with a tachometer and 120-mph speedometer, a 12-volt auxiliary power outlet, a four-spoke tilt steering wheel, a six-speaker media center with a CD and MP3 player, as well as an audio jack input for mobile devices, automatic headlamps, behind-the-seat storage bins, driver and passenger assist handles, power accessory delay, a rear dome lamp, a rear-view day/ Ram 1500 Express is available as a conventional cab, short-bed variant with an option of four-wheel drive (42) or all-wheel drive (44).
    • It will pull a maximum trailer weight of 10,450 lbs when coupled with an optional Class IV hitch, which is available as an option on the new Ram 1500 Express.
    • The 2019 Ram 1500 Express will have a starting MSRP of $23,830, which includes a $975 destination fee.
    • The manufacturer’s suggested retail price will be $23,830.

It will be available for purchase at Ram Truck dealerships in the second quarter of 2011.This appears to be a wise move on the part of the retailer; younger consumers are finding it increasingly difficult to make a good living, and the ″Express″ program may entice them back into the showroom. You may expect the majority of them to depart with an extended-cab or crew-cab truck, though.

    Here is the 2019 Ram 1500 ″Express″

    1. I’ve been hearing a lot about how there will be no Ram 1500 Express variant for the 2019 model year.
    2. 5thGenRams has been certain about the existence of an Express variant for quite some time, and now we have photographic evidence to support their claims.
    3. We now have the first images of the 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman with the monochrome package, courtesy of our pals at Real Fast Fotography, who took the photos.
    4. On the consumer level, current model Ram 1500s with the Express package are labeled as a different model, however when you dive further into the model hierarchy, it is actually a Tradesman with an option code added.
    5. When you look at the construction sheet for this 2018 Ram 1500 Tradesman and a 2018 Ram 1500 Express, you will see what I am talking about.
    6. Both of these vehicles are available for purchase at Iverson CJDR.

Both trucks are listed as ST (Tradesman) models on their construction papers, with the express truck having an option that converts it into an Express model.Other models, such as the Sport, Laramie, and others, are all identified as such on their separate construction sheets.Ordering the Tradesman trim and adding the Monochrome package will result in a 2019 Ram 1500 ″Express,″ which will also have the Tradesman Level 1 equipment group, as illustrated in the illustration below.According on what you can see, this will buy you a vehicle that is comparable to the present Express model. It is also likely that this will continue to be referred to as an Express at the point of sale to consumers.

    • Fans of the Ram Express may be confident that the entry-level truck with the Sport design will continue to be available in the future.
    • Because of the Honeycomb grille inserts, this Delmonico Red Crew Cab is instantly distinguishable as a Tradesman with Monochrome package as opposed to a Big Horn Monochrome or ″Sport.″ Fans of the ″Black Express″ model will be pleased to know that a black package will also be offered.

Differences Between RAM Tradesman and Express

    1. Because there are so many various trim options available for the 2016 RAM 1500, it might be difficult to understand the distinctions among them.
    2. The 2016 RAM 1500 Tradesman and the 2016 RAM 1500 Express are two of the most economical alternatives, and they are very comparable in terms of design and features.
    3. So, what exactly are the distinctions between the RAM Tradesman and the RAM Express?
    4. Continue reading to learn more about this and other topics.

2016 RAM 1500 Express vs Tradesman

    • For starters, both are full-size trucks with a standard cab and rear-wheel drive. They also have similar interiors. They are all equipped with the base Pentastar V-6 engine, but they also have the option of upgrading to a more powerful 5.7-liter V-8 engine for a slightly greater cost. Both the Express and Tradesman grades are equipped with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Take a look at these other RAM 1500 trims that are currently available. Because these two trim levels are so comparable in terms of pricing and performance, they also have a number of extra amenities that are included as standard equipment on each of them. For the 2016 RAM 1500 Tradesman and Express trims, below is a list of features that are available both inside and outside the vehicle: 40/20/40 split bench seat with storage behind
    • 12-volt power outlet
    • air conditioning
    • manual locks and windows
    • tinted glass windows
    • Six speakers, USB and auxiliary inputs, a tire pressure monitor display, and an optional backup camera are all included.

    2. I’ve always considered the express package to be akin to the sxt, the slt’s unattractive younger brother.
    3. However, I came across a pretty excellent one at the dealership that seemed to have everything I was looking for.
    4. rearview camera, four-headlight system with fog lights, body-color grille, 20-inch wheels (despite though I favor 17-inch wheels for performance and gas consumption), hemi, and an eight-speed automatic transmission are all options.
    5. Is it true that they are a better bundle than I anticipated?
    6. Could someone please relate it to a slt for me?

    3. Instead of requiring you to purchase a slew of extras you may or may not want in order to have a good-looking truck, they created a package just for it.
    4. It’s time for the Express.
    5. It is a ″basic″ model, yet it is attractive and features a 5.7L engine.
    6. It features the cosmetic elements (such as color matching, 20-inch wheels, and so on), as well as the 5.7L engine, without the extra expenditure of the other choices.

It does not have the ″gadgets″ that come with the higher-end packages, such as sophisticated instruments, additional compartments (which are simply an opening in the dash rather than a second glove box type closing), leather seats, and so on.Overall, the goal was to be able to offer a well-looking truck with a solid engine at a price that was more reasonable than something like a Sport or a Laramie, but still competitive.Previously, in order to have the appearance or engine you want, you had to choose a trim level that included a slew of extras that you might not want. Now you don’t have to.Thanks for the useful information.

    3. The Express sports 20-inch rims.
    4. Power Sliders and grille shutters are standard on the SLT.
    5. Aside from that, the distinctions are in the alternatives that are offered.
    6. The SLT will offer a wider range of choices, including cab/bed combinations, convenience groups, ramboxes, and other features.

Regarding the camera you inquired about, RamTrucks.com states that it is not an option on the Express (that I saw anyway). On the SLT, the camera is indicated as being on the auto dim mirror, which is correct.Joined on November 17, 2006, with 9 posts. Is it certain that it is an Express? It may be a Sport.

Joined on December 8, 2008 with 2,510 posts You should be aware that you may get an Express model with projector headlights and LED taillights; a friend of mine has a black Express model with these features.I’m not sure if this is just due to the fact that he has the ″black out″ package, or if it is anything more unique. The Express package, in my opinion, is excellent value because it includes the nicer external package (without door handles and mirrors), but the inside is quite basic.Because I am not the kind that enjoys a lot of frills and frills, the simple interior is ideal for me.

    6. Whereas my 13′ Ram Express has all of those features, with the exception of the 8-speed transmission, which I really wanted but couldn’t wait 22 months for.

It did have a 5.0-inch touch screen rather than an 8.4-inch touch screen, as well as power sliding back glass, which was another feature I liked about that truck: once again, no problems.Whatever the case, I couldn’t wait to get back in my truck!Alternatively, if you started off with the Sport, you would not enjoy it either, because I nearly lost my mind when I traded in my sunroof in order to obtain the 13′: I was once again too eager. As Brian mentioned, the manufacturer listened to us for a change and provided us with an option.Ram Express owners are the focus of a discussion I started, which I believe is titled ″Any Ideas for ″Ram Express Interiors.″ My 2015 Express comes with a couple of extras that my 13′ Express did not come with out of the box.

    • Yes, as well as painted side mirrors as a standard feature.
    • My 13′ was equipped with black tow mirrors with turn signals and a puddle lamp as standard.
    • Along with painted side mirrors, the Sport has a white turning signal on the bottom corner, whilst the Express’s with same feature have a white turning signal on the top corner of the vehicle.

Even though my 15′ is equipped with tow mirrors and a puddle lamp, most Expresses that I see do not have this feature. When you don’t have the towing package, you don’t receive them. And from the outside, it’s impossible to determine if the Expresses have the towing package, such as trailer brakes and other features, or not.On the other hand, you are aware that the Expresses equipped with tow mirrors are equipped with a trailer brake.

Due of the large number of black or dark Rams on the road, it would be simplest to identify a Sport by checking for the chrome horizontal bars in the grill or the standard rims on which it is mounted. The bottom conclusion is that Ram trucks are just stunning to behold.I see individuals driving Rams that I know would not have been seen dead in one 13 years ago, and I’m considered a beginner, having purchased my first 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 in November of 2002, which was considered a newbie back then.

Ram 1500 Review, For Sale, Price & Specs

    1. The rule of thumb is that a float with two horses on board weighs roughly 2000kg, which means that the very bare minimum towing limit you’d be looking at is around that much.
    2. Even with that, after you include in a couple of saddles, a couple of feed bins, and whatever else horsey people need to transport, you might well be looking at 2.5 or even three tonnes of cargo total.
    3. The wise decision would be to get a dual-cab ute with the greatest amount of towing capability feasible.
    4. In this case, the good news is that many of the popular options can pull a braked trailer weighing anything up to 3.5 tonnes with ease.
    5. Consider this: if a ute is capable of towing 3.5 tonnes, it should have no trouble towing two tonnes.
    6. Those looking for a three-axle float and a pair of Clydesdale horses, on the other hand, may want to choose one of the American-made utes from companies such as RAM or other brands sold in the United States of America (USA).

Even in such case, you must use caution: The RAM ute may legally tow 4500kg with a braked trailer, but in order to do so without exceeding the GCM (the combined mass of the vehicle and trailer), the payload capacity of the tray is reduced to less than 100kg.

    1. Towing a float with two horses on board is estimated to weigh roughly 2000kg, which is the very bare minimum towing restriction you’d be looking at in this situation.
    2. You might easily be looking at 2.5 or even three tonnes by the time you’ve added a couple of saddles, some feed bins, and whatever else horsey people like to bring about with them.
    3. The wise decision would be to get a dual-cab ute with the greatest amount of towing capability available.
    4. However, many of today’s popular alternatives are capable of towing a braked trailer that may weigh anywhere from 1.5 tons up to 3.5 tons.
    5. It’s reasonable to assume that a ute capable of towing 3.5 tonnes will handle two tonnes with ease.
    6. Those looking for a three-axle float and a pair of Clydesdale horses, on the other hand, may want to choose one of the American-made utes from companies such as RAM or other brands sold in the United States of America (US).

Even in such case, you must exercise caution, as follows: The RAM ute may legally tow 4500kg with a braked trailer, however in order to do so without exceeding the GCM (the combined mass of the vehicle and trailer), the payload capacity of the tray is reduced to less than 100kg in some models.

    Edmunds Says

    1. Are you looking for a half-ton truck that is innovative and thinks beyond the box?
    2. The 2016 Ram 1500 is a vehicle that deserves thorough examination.
    3. Because to its revolutionary coil spring rear suspension, it has the smoothest unloaded ride on the market, yet it can still tow your trailer with ease thanks to its powerful Hemi gasoline V8 or torquey turbodiesel V6 engine.
    4. You don’t intend to haul a lot?
    5. We really enjoy the smooth and economical base gasoline V6, which is available in several configurations.
    6. Excellent load management capabilities, as well as a visually appealing cabin, round out the package.

    Vehicle overview

    1. Despite the fact that the Ram 1500’s most recent complete makeover occurred in 2009, you’d never guess it from the way it drives.
    2. With everything from high-quality interior materials to an easy-to-use infotainment system and an impressively suppleride, there’s much here to make up for the vehicle’s relative lack of newness.
    3. All of the main players in this division have had significant renovations in recent years, but the Ram’s sophisticated demeanor belies its years on the field.
    4. If you’re searching for a full-size pickup truck, it’s still a fantastic option.
    5. When it was introduced last year, the 2016 Ram 1500 Rebel was hailed as an off-roading behemoth with a commanding appearance on the road.
    6. One of the Ram’s most distinguishing characteristics is its smooth ride.

This is down to the class-exclusive coil spring rear suspension, which is more effective at smoothing out and decreasing the harshness of poor road conditions than the standard leaf spring system. The trade-off is a modestly lower towing capacity, but if you’re going to be towing anything beyond the truck’s towing capacity, you’d be better off with a heavy-duty model anyhow. In addition to providing even more comfort, Ram’s optional air suspension has a self-leveling mechanism that prevents the vehicle from sagging while towing a big trailer or hauling an extremely heavy weight. The Ram 1500 will see just minor changes for the 2016 model year.Following a limited introduction last year, the fullcenter console with connection and storage for mobile devices has now become the default configuration for all new systems.

    • Several new Sport models are now available, with a variety of vibrant exterior paint schemes and modest trim modifications.
    • Additionally, LED lighting in the bed are now available, which is a particularly beneficial feature when the optional tonneau cover is in use.
    • Despite the fact that the 2016 Ram 1500 is one of our favorite full-size pickup trucks, the 2016 Ford F-150 is more responsive thanks to a lightweight aluminum body and two powerful turbocharged V6 engines, which are standard on both models.
    • With their competitive powertrains and amenities, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado and the equivalent GMC Sierra stand out among their peers, while the all-new 2016 Nissan Titan XD bridges the gap between regular- and heavy-duty trucks with a diesel V8 that is more competent than the Ram’s diesel V6.
    • Although the 2016 Toyota Tundra is a viable option, its ride quality and fuel efficiency are both lacking.
    • However, despite the fact that it is a seasoned veteran in its market, the 2016 Ram 1500 is an excellent choice.

    Performance & mpg

    1. 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque are generated by the basic engine of the 2016 Ram 1500, which is a 3.6-liter gasoline V6.
    2. The transmission is an automatic with eight speeds.
    3. A rotary knob located on the instrument panel regulates the eight-speed transmission, rather than the typical shift lever.
    4. Although a rear-wheel-drive (2WD) configuration is normal, there are two 4WD systems available.
    5. Both vehicles are equipped with a two-speed transfer case with low-rangegear.
    6. One, on the other hand, is a standard part-time system with manual modeselection, whilst the other has an Auto 4WD mode that automatically switches between rear- and four-wheel drive as the driving conditions warrant.

Naturally, the fuel economy estimates provided by the Environmental Protection Agency for the Ram 1500 range vary substantially across the various powertrains.Fuel efficiency estimates for the 2016 Ram 1500 4×2 with the regular V6 are 20 mpg combined (17 city/25 highway), with the HFE trim getting up to 21 mpg combined (18 city/25 highway). The 4WD achieves a combined fuel economy of 19 mpg (16 city/23 highway). The V6-powered Ram 1500 SLT quad cab 2WD completed Edmunds’ tests in 7.9 seconds, while the somewhat heavier SLTcrew cab V6 2WD completed the same task in 8.0 seconds….The 5.7-liter V8 engine that comes standard on the Sport, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited (and available on all other Rams save the HFE) produces 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque.

    • A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on the Tradesman and Express, with an optional eight-speed automatic transmission available on the Tradesman and Express.
    • provided as an alternative The eight-speed transmission is standard on all other Ram1500s equipped with a V8 engine.
    • It gets 16 miles per gallon combined (14 city/20 highway) with 2WD and 15 miles per gallon combined (13 city/19 highway) with 4WD when equipped with the six-speed transmission.
    • The eight-speed transmission raises the V8’s combined fuel economy to 17 mpg combined (15 city/22 highway) in 2WD and 17 mpg combined (15 city/21 highway) in 4WD, respectively.
    • Edmunds tested a Ram 1500 Sport crew cab 4WD, which ran from zero to 60 mph in 7.1 seconds, which was slower than the industry average for a full-size truck with a V8.
    • The ″EcoDiesel,″ a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 with 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, is available as an option on all grades except the Express, Sport, and Rebel.

It is required to have an eight-speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency is excellent, with 2WD achieving 23mpg combined (20 city/28 highway) and 4WD achieving 22mpg combined (19 city/27 highway). The HFE EcoDiesel goes even further, achieving 24 mpg combined (21 city/29 highway), earning it the distinction of being the most fuel-efficient full-size truck available. While a Ram 1500 Laramie crew cab 4WD equipped with this diesel engine raced from zero to sixty in a leisurely 8.7 seconds, its considerable torque makes a diesel-powered Ram 1500 seem much faster around town than its acceleration time would imply, according to Edmunds testing.

    • Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that, despite having a more powerful diesel V8, the Nissan Titan XD took nearly a full second slower to accelerate to 60 mph.
    • It is possible to tow up to 7,610 pounds with a well equipped Ram 1500 with the gas V6, and up to 9,210 pounds with an appropriately equipped Ram 1500 with the diesel V6.
    • The V8 has a towing capacity of 10,640 pounds, which is slightly less than its competitors, but not by much.

Using a gas V6, the maximum payload is 1,890 pounds; this figure decreases to 1,800 pounds when using a V8 and 1,600 pounds when using a diesel V6.

    Safety

    1. On the 2016 Ram 1500, standard safety features include four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability control, hill-start assist, trailer-sway control, front seat side airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags, as well as a rearview camera.
    2. An optional trailer-brake controller with complete integration is also available, as is a rearview camera with parking sensors in the front and back.
    3. With the Uconnect Access package, you get an emergency telematics system that links you with 911 operators at the push of a button and also allows you to track down your stolen car.
    4. The Quad Cab 2WD with the gas V6 and the Crew Cab 4WD with the diesel V6 both came to a stop from 60 mph in 128 feet during Edmunds testing, which is about normal for similarly equipped full-size trucks.
    5. In government crash tests, the Ram 1500 received four out of a possible five stars for total crash protection, with four stars for frontal crash protection, five stars for side crash protection, and four stars for rollover potential (2WD), but only three stars for rollover potential with 4WD.

    Driving

While the 5.7-liter V8 has the maximum claimed towing capability, the diesel V6 is a close second and provides significantly better fuel efficiency. We discovered that, despite the diesel’s lower acceleration ratings, it is just as capable as the other engines for daily commutes.Having said that, if you’re not intending on towing anything, staying with the standard gasoline V6 engine will save you a lot of money while also providing a touch more responsiveness when the accelerator is pressed all the way to the floor.

    • The eight-speed automatic’s gearchanges are almost subtle, so the transmission never feels crowded, as you might anticipate from a transmission with this many speeds.
    • It also has an advantage while towing because there are more ratios available to attain the optimal engine rpm, and it may even minimize the need to use a different axle ratio in some cases.
    • The Rebel is unquestionably the bad boy of the family, but any 2016 Ram 1500 4×4 provides you with off-road capability as well as on-road politeness on the open road.
    • While driving, the Ram seems more polished than its competitors, thanks to a smoother ride and more accurate handling than you’d expect from a full-size pickup truck, according to the manufacturer.
    • When traveling at high speeds on the interstate, the Ram 1500 is remarkably quiet and calm..
    • It gets even better when equipped with the optional air suspension, a technology that is unique to this class and allows the vehicle to descend 2 inches when parked, reducing liftover and step-in heights by as much as a half inch.
    • In addition, two off-road settings for the air suspension allow for height increases of 1.2 and 2 inches over the conventional height to provide more clearance when necessary.

    Interior

The Ram 1500’s interior is among the most comfortable in the pickup market. All trim levels, even the base model, have a pleasing appearance, with excellent materials and logical controls that are generally easy to reach, while the optional wood trim and premium leather upholstery are typically upscale.Veteran truckers may be confused at first by the rotary shift knob on the dashboard, but it rapidly becomes second nature and frees up valuable storage space as compared to trucks with console-mounted shifters, which are more common.

    • Despite the fact that the front seats are soft, they provide a sufficient mix between support and comfort.
    • The rear seat of the crew cab is quite comfortable, with plenty of legroom and a pleasant seatback angle.
    • The inside of the 2016 Ram 1500 is undoubtedly the prettiest in its class, thanks to a beautiful, no-nonsense design and an overall high level of quality in the materials used.
    • There are two touchscreen interfaces available (one measuring 5 inches in diameter and the other 8.4 inches in diameter), and both are excellent at controlling both simple and complex activities.
    • The updated screen is exceptionally convenient and visually appealing; it is one of our favorite features in any car at this time.
    • At a look, the virtual buttons are huge and simple to notice, yet the real knobs and buttons give much-appreciated redundant control.
    • In addition to keyless entry and ignition, power-adjustable pedals, Bluetooth connectivity, voice controls, smartphone integration, and even WiFi hotspot functionality are included as modern convenience features.
    • The power-adjustable pedals found on later trim levels are a pleasant feature, especially given the steering wheel’s limited ability to be adjusted with a stick.
    • The RAM offers a generous amount of regular and extra storage capacity..

When you flip up the 60/40-split rear seats in the extended cab, a smart fold-out flat floor area is revealed, whilst the crew cab offers waterproof storage compartments under the rear floor as well as shallow bins beneath the flip-upbackseat.The RamBox system, which is available as an option and installs a pair of lockable chambers above the back fenders inside the truckbed, is a one-of-a-kind Ram feature. These compartments can even be locked and unlocked remotely if the appropriate equipment levels are achieved.
